Steven Alan Tilghman

Steven Alan Tilghman, Sr. (Stevie) son of Roseanne Sarah Johnson Tilghman and the late Alexander Randolph Tilghman, Sr. was born September 3, 1969 in Upper Hill, MD. He peacefully departed this life on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 1:44 A.M. at University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center, LaPlata, MD. Stevie received his early education in Somerset County Public Schools, and he furthered his education to receive his CDL license. It was a proud moment for him and his family. He worked for several different trucking companies, and his current employer was FedEx Trucking Co. During the baptizing of his children, Stevie gave his life to Christ. Through the many ups and downs in his life he remembered to look to Jesus for his source of strength. Stevie knew that God was working in his life and that he was blessed and he would often let us know that he felt God’s constant presence in his life. Stevie loved to travel, that’s where he got the nickname “Road Runner”. He loved to fish, work on cars and he was a natural comedian. He had a constant smile that would melt your heart. He knew what to say to get his way. He was loving and was loved by everyone whose life he touched. He had a heart of gold and would help anyone that he could. He loved his children very much and was a great father and grandfather. He loved his mother, who lovingly called him “Boot” and his brother and sisters very much. He was the favored of the siblings and had to have all the attention. In addition to his mother he is survived by 7 children: Steven (AJ) Tilghman, Jr. of Washington DC, Derick (Te’Ona) Thompson of Salisbury, MD, Shanetra (DeOnte’) of Princess Anne, MD, Shynetra, Monique, Kiosha, and Chantel of Raleigh, North Carolina; a lifetime partner, Monia Thompson, 17 grandchildren; one brother Alexander Tilghman, Jr. of Aberdeen, MD, two sister, Veronica (Preston) Scarborough of Marion, MD and Beatrice Tilghman of Atlanta, GA; 9 nieces & nephews and 10 great nieces/nephews. On his father’s side (paternal) 3 uncles; Harold (Adalyn) Tilghman of Salisbury, MD, Rudolph Tilghman of Crisfield, MD and Clarence (Marian) Tilghman of Upper Hill, MD; 3 aunts; Elsie Gray of Salisbury, MD, Lucille Townsend and Frances Tilghman of Upper Hill, MD. On his mother’s side (maternal) 2 uncles, Charles (Eerestine) Johnson, Sr. of Boston, MA, Leroy ( Tina) Johnson of Princess Anne, MD; 4 aunts; Virginia (Jay) Hardy, of Princess Anne, MD, Deborah (Samuel) Howell of Upper Hill, MD, Joan “Angel” (Alphonso) Collins, of Landover, MD and Patricia “Patsy” Johnson of Crisfield, MD; 1 great aunt Margaret Johnson of Oriole, MD; 5 very special brothers; Rudy, Maurice, Jermaine, JJ and Chuck, and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents Harold & Sarah J Tilghman and Franklin & Beatrice Johnson, Sr. brother-in-law DaVondale (Pete) Peters and sister-in-law Sandra (Sandy) Stevens; cousin, Melissa “Mindy” Tilghman; 4 uncles, Samuel “Bubby” Tilghman, Franklin “Fankie Boy” Johnson, Clinton Melvin “Sonny” Johnson and James “Jimmy” Johnson; 3 aunts, Peggy Whittington, Yvonne Coleman and Shirley Williams.
