Steven Martin Nichols

Steven Martin Nichols (Steve), also known to many friends and family as “Gator” or “Break”, of Delmar, Delaware, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2016 at the age of sixty-one (61) in Seaford, Delaware at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. He was surrounded with the love of his family there with him. Steve was the last born child of the late Fred and Ada Nichols on July 31,1955. He received his education and graduated in 1974 from Delmar High School. There he joined the wrestling team, and played the bass guitar in a local band. He has left behind to grieve a tremendous loss, his wife of 26 years and life partner for a total of 42 years, Georgette "Cassandra" Nichols of Delmar, Delaware. He was united in marriage with her on July 27, 1990. Steve worked for 10 years as a production worker for the Shirt and Pants Factory in Delmar, and 10 more years for the Town of Delmar before leaving due to health issues. He was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, godfather and uncle. Steve had a passion for music, and enjoyed watching his favorite football team, the Washington "Redskins" play. He also enjoyed sitting outside and spending time with his family and friends. He always loved having family Bbq's/gatherings, or just hanging with the “Fellas”, cherishing the good times spent together. Anyone who knew Steve, knew how much of an outspoken, comical, free-spirited person he was. The impression he left on all our hearts could never be forgotten. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ada Nichols, grandparents, Robert and Sarah Bynum, mother-in-law, Mildred Tull and his first granddaughter, Markita Gootee-Tull. Steve is survived by: four (4) children, Starla Hall, Darryl Tull, Robina Tull-Byrd, and Tammy Daniels-Young; four (4) siblings, Fred and Cheyra Nichols of Athens, Georgia, Alex Nichols of Delmar, Delaware and Sheila Dupont-Nichols of Wilmington Delaware; twelve (12) grandchildren—Branson Daniels, Brandi Daniels, Daviya Doyle-Tull, De'Andre Tull, K'lin Gootee, De'Janae Tull, Courtney Broughton, Keanu Wilson, Dylan Wilson, Carlos Stanley, Jr. and Timothy Hall, Jr.; nine (9) great grandchildren, (2) of whom were very close to him, Davion Doyle Tull and Jer'Mahz B. Sincere Thomas; a niece to whom he was very close, Tiffany Nichols-Chavis, but not excluding a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins, aunts, uncles and close friends who were dear to his heart as well.
