Sherwood Elton Cannon III

Sherwood’s Journey Sherwood Elton Cannon III, a resident of Salisbury, Maryland, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2025, after a gradual decline in health. He was born to the late Sherwood Elton Cannon, Jr. and Susie Henson Cannon on May 27, 1961. “Brother,” or “Uncle Brother” as the family called him, was known to his friends as “Chicken.” Family often wondered why his friends called him that and it was because he and his friends were always in something. Sherwood was a very quiet and reserved person. He received his education in the Wicomico County School system. Later he went to the Job Corps where he received his GED and Masonry certificate. Sherwood helped to lay the bricks for the foundation when an addition was added to the former Peninsula Regional Medical Hospital. Sherwood also worked at Perdue on the clean-up shift at night. In his past time, Sherwood was a Philadelphia Eagles fan. Proudly wearing his Eagles hat, he would not miss a game. Sherwood leaves to cherish his memory and is lovingly survived by: his 93 year-old mother, Susie Cannon; his sister, Katherine (Donald, Sr.) Robinson of Salisbury, Maryland, Doris Henson of Salisbury, Maryland, Minister Yvonne Henson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Charlotte (Frederick) Crowell of Wilmington, Delaware, Sherlene Cannon Wallace of Salisbury, Maryland and Anjanette “Angie” Cannon of Salisbury, Maryland; brother Bernard Cannon of Hurlock, Maryland; life long friends, Anthony Davis, Anthony Griffin, Graylon Nichols, Kevin Davis and Dwayne Davis. Your brother Chicken loved you just like you were his biological brothers. As well as a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, cousins, and friends. Sherwood was preceded in death by: his father, Sherwood Elton Cannon, Jr.; his brother, Charles “Buggy” Cannon; his maternal grandmother Katherine “KittyCat” Williams; paternal grandparents, Sherwood Elton, Sr. and Juanita Cannon; aunts, Levada Bell and Ethel Williams and uncles, Harry (LillieMae) Wright and Roy Wright. Don’t cry for me now for I have died. For I am still here by your side. My soul’s gone but my body is still here; don’t shed another tear. I am still here; I’m all around. Only my body lies in the ground.
