Shannelle Nicole "Nellie" Copper

Shannelle NiCole Copper, affectionately known as “Nellie”, daughter of Jacqueline Lewis-Henry and Lennell Copper, was born on August 20, 1980, at Kent and Queen Anne’s Hospital in Chestertown, Maryland. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 29, 2017. She was 36 years old. Shannelle received her education at Queen Anne’s County High School, Class of 1998. She was an active member of the middle and high school marching bands, where she traveled to Kentucky and London. She was a member of the Pondtown 4-H Club, winning 1st Place in the Maryland State Fair for her Watergate salad. Her first place of employment was McDonald’s in Chestertown. She attended Blue Ridge Job Corp in Blue Ridge, VA, through which, she received her credentials as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). She worked at Magnolia Hall as a CNA. Shannelle joined the Board of Education of Queen Anne’s County and served in various positions including bus aid. She later received her Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and became a bus driver. She was also a Parent Coordinator at Sudlersville Elementary School. In addition, Shannelle drove for Adult Day Care of Kent County. Shannelle accepted God as her personal savior while at Blue Ridge Job Corp, where she received the Holy Ghost. She was a member of Abundant Life Restoration Center. Shannelle assisted with the youth liturgical dance team, Praising with a Purpose. She also attended Mt. Carmel Church of the Living God. Shannelle was a devoted mother and advocate for not only her children, but all children. As a licensed cosmetologist, Shannelle had several clients who will miss her dearly. She was one to interact with people at the Crumpton Auction, Outpost, and Pinckney Park. Her favorite color was red. Shannelle was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Harvey and Edna Lewis, paternal grandfather, Melvin Copper, Sr., and uncle Marvin Lewis. Shannelle leaves to cherish precious memories, her son, Shyhiem Miller and daughter, Jazmyn Cooper of Millington, MD; devoted mother, Elder Dr. Jacqueline Lewis-Henry (Shannelle was her only child) and Elder Darnell Henry of Millington, MD; father, Lennell Copper, Sr, (Tarsha Hunter) of Worton, MD; sister, Tatayna Copper; brothers, Elijah Copper and Lennell Copper, Jr., Worton; grandmother, Bertha Copper, Federalsburg, MD; aunts and uncles, Barbara (Johnnie) Harris, Gwendolyn Lewis (Larry Wilson), Bishop Nelson (Minister Barbara) Lewis, Elder Dwayne Lewis, Terry (Zinabeth) Copper, Kelvin (Pamela) Copper, Nathaniel (Katherine) Copper, Marion (Roosevelt) Felton, Christopher (Channelle) Copper, Patricia Copper, and Tina Skinner; and a host of cousins, friends, stepsisters and stepbrother. Shannelle had many special friends and cousins, too numerous to mention, and one devoted friend, Shamia Johnson.
