Sandra Lee Barkley

Sandra Lee Barkley was born on January 27, 1960 in Brooklyn New York, to the late Walter and Janice Barkley. Sandra was called to rest on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center at 4:00 a.m. Sandra was employed by Howard Johnsons in Ocean City, Maryland for many years before her health began to fail. She accepted Christ into her life at a very early age, serving at Miracle Temple Church of God In Christ, Brooklyn, New York. She served as a Junior Usher under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Otis Ballard. Residing later in Snow Hill, Maryland, she joined Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she became a member of the Usher Board. She felt very proud when putting on the usher’s uniform to engage in the duties of an usher. Sandra loved her family very much and will always be missed for cooking large meals and making sure that everyone got to eat. She loved being around family and friends, just enjoying life and having a good time. “Tyra” her dog, was also a joy of her life and she spent a lot of time with her. Sandra was preceded in death by her sister, Mona Barkley, brother, Michael Barkley, and great nephew, Tymere Barkley. Sandra leaves to cherish her memories, Rakim Waters of Snow Hill, MD, a son whom she loved, adored, and was very proud of . She was always talking about Rakim’s graduation from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in May of 2013. She also leaves behind to cherish memories a very special cousin who was always at her side, Romana Waters. Jhaki Barkley and Dontazha Washington of Snow Hill, MD, both were in her care and she loved them very deeply. One sister, Joanne Barkley; Brooklyn, New York; one brother , Walter Bratten, Jr., Snow Hill, Maryland, two god sons, Derrick Branch, Brooklyn New York, and Lamont Marshal , Snow Hill, Maryland; seven nieces, Precious Barkley, Snow Hill, MD, Tahana Barkley, Bronx, New York, Makeeba Weeks, Brooklyn, New York, Unique Miller, Brooklyn, New York, Qatasha Miller, Brooklyn, New York, Qeshana Barkley, Snow Hill, Maryland, Kaleemah Barkley, Snow Hill, Maryland,; five nephews, Michael Barkley, Bryan Bratten, Jessie Bratten, Brooks Bratten all of Snow Hill, Maryland and Charles Miller, Jr. Brooklyn, New York; twelve great-nieces and nephews that she loved very deeply. She also leaves a very dear and special friend, David Nelson and a host of cousins and friends that will sadly miss her.
