Sandra Paulette Ames

SANDRA’S JOURNEY Sandra P. Vinnie Dorsey Ames was born on September 28, 1955 in Nassawadox, Virginia to the late Gladys Vinnie Heath and Thomas H. Wescott. A short time after birth, she was raised by the late Margaret and John W. Dorsey in Snow Hill, Maryland. She attended Worcester County public schools and graduated from Snow Hill High in 1973. In 1986, she was joined in holy matrimony to Levon D. Ames. Within their union she gained a stepson and a daughter, whom they raised as their own in Delaware. Throughout her adult life, Sandra worked in various vocations which included cleaning several hotels, being a Postmaster, serving as a healthcare aid, and working in restaurant and retail management. She gave her life to Christ at an early age. Sandra enjoyed visiting several churches from Delaware to Virginia, which also included her home town church which was New Holy Trinity COGIC in Millsboro, Delaware. Lastly, she joined Overcomers Church for Victorious Living in Exmore, Virginia. Sandra was always the life of the party. She loved dancing, laughing and weekend get-togethers with family and friends. She had a giving heart and was always willing to help others. Sandra loved eating crabs as much as she loved her short hair cuts! She also had a passion for gospel music, going crabbing and fishing. Sandra leaves to cherish loving memories: her stepson, Levon Giddens of Tasley, Virginia and daughter, Markisha Pitts of Salisbury, Maryland; sisters, Mary Heath, Margaret Reid and Olivia (George) Tankard, all of Painter, Virginia, Linda (Fernanzer) Ames of Melfa, Virginia, Brenda Heath of Gargatha, Virginia, Deborah Truzerls Wescott Taylor of Catonsville, Maryland, Deilsie (Chester) Heath Kulesa of Greenfield, Pennsylvania, Dana Wescott, Janet Davis, Stacey (Kenny) Davis and Candace Wescott, all of Delaware and Thomasina Wescott Thomas of Savannah, Georgia; one sister-in-law, Deborah Heath of Painter, Virginia; brothers, Milton (Yvette) Heath of Snow Hill, Maryland, William (Kimberly) Bratten of Milton, Delaware, Milton (Laurie) Collins of Austell, Georgia, Thomas Wescott of New Jersey, James Wescott of Baltimore, Maryland, Raphael (Diann) Westcott, Kevin Wescott and Herbert Rayne, all of Delaware; three grandchildren, Tyshawn Tilghman, Tyshay Pitts and Ty Johnson, Jr., all of Salisbury, Maryland; one uncle Forrest Wescott of Delmar, Delaware; one aunt, Phyllis Deshields of Delmar, Delaware, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins as well as special friends Levon Ames and care aide Tracey Snead and special cousins, Linda Hilliard.
