Samus Gustin

Samus Gustin, 86, of Laurel, Delaware, entered into eternal peace on Friday, July 30, 2021, at his home in Laurel, Delaware. He was born on October 25, 1934, in Terre-Neuve Haiti, son of the late St. Elas Gustin and Damase Gustin. He started his education in Terre Neuve and later in Gonaives, Haiti. Samus later became a tailor, earning him the nickname “Boss Samus”. In 1980, Samus immigrated to the U.S. and settled in Laurel, Delaware, where he would start a new life and provide a new life for his family. He worked at Dupont Investa until he retired. Samus accepted Christ as his Savior, and was a member of Church of the Nazarene in Laurel until God called him home. Papa, as he was affectionately called by his grandchildren and his children, was the patriarch of his family. He was an active father as well as actively involved in the lives of his grandchildren. He was a strong, compassionate and supportive friend to everyone he came into contact with. Before becoming bedridden, he was always available to help and take his friends anywhere they needed to do. Most importantly, he was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin. Samus was preceded in death by his parents, St. Elas Gustin and Damase Gustin; his brother, Francois Gustin; his sister, Mariemate Mesadieu; his son, Emmanuel Gustin and his niece, Marie Cliska Mesadieu (Foufoune). Leaving behind to cherish his precious memories: his wife, Marimene Gustin of Laurel, DE; son, Jean Eden Gustin of Laurel, DE; daughter Chantale G. Signey (Herold Signey) of Seaford, DE; Yanite Gustin (Mendes) of Laurel, DE. Wilfrid Morinvil of North Lauderdale, FL; Claudine Gustin and Fegaintz Gustin (Annette Gustin) from Laurel, DE, Penina Gustin (Evens Janvier) and daughter, Marie Samus Maradzika (Partson Maradzika) of GA; grandsons, Michee Gustin (Lounese Gustin), Jeff Gustin (Ashley Gustin), Claudy Gustin; Yolnex Gustin; Leonard Gustin; Tanzi Maradzika; and Christopher Janvier; granddaughters, Sherly Gustin; Jean-Edeline Gustin; Anastasia Jones (Timothy Jones); Yasmine Gustin, Christy Gustin; Chelsey Gustin; Marley Janvier and Tamar Janvier; great-grandchildren, Jeff M.
