Ruth Mae Walker

Obituary Ruth Mae Walker was born on December 29, 1938 to the late Annie Mae Roberts and Richard White. She departed from this earth to glory on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, MD. She was surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren who helped care for her. A native of Snow Hill, MD, she attended Snow Hill public schools. She later married the late Thomas J. Walker who was the love of her life. From that union of forty-four years, four children were born. Ruth was one of the first CNA’s hired at Harrison House of Snow Hill, MD, where she retired after twenty-eight years of employment. She cared for others with as much passion as she did her loved ones. Even the neighborhood kids thought of her as a mother and/or grandmother figure. After her retirement, she cherished spending time with her family and loved cooking Sunday dinners; holiday gatherings were paramount to her. Although Ruth could cook just about anything, she was well known for her “Chicken and Dumplings.” Moreover, she enjoyed gardening, maintaining house plants, as well as knitting. Anyone close to her knew how adamant she was about her living space and it was evident that she did not play when it came to her home. Her family could tell you that every thing was always so neat, clean, and had its assigned place. Above all else, Ruth was a servant of God! She visited many churches, but Weeping Mary Baptist Church was her home. One of her favorite songs to sing was “Old Landmark.” Undeniably so, it was known amongst all that she was a faith-filled woman with a heart devoted to God. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Walker and her sister, Joyce Purnell. Ruth survived by: her two brothers, Philmore (Velma) White and Eddie White, Sr. Along with her brothers, she leaves fond memories to cherish with: her treasured daughters, Clarice Walker, Delphine (James) Brittingham and Patricia Walker and one son, Larry Walker; her grandchildren, Welton Townsend, Cheree (Dorrell) Collins, Lounell (Tanisha) Townsend, John Ayres, Nicole Ayres, Andrea Patterson, Qiana Walker, Kyree Walker and Ladonte’ Walker. It is without a doubt that Ruth’s presence will be dearly missed, but her legacy will continue to live on.
