Rubeon C. May

Rubeon Carl May, son of the late Calvin C. May and Wilhelmina Butcher May was born on November 15, 1947 in Smyrna, Delaware. He transitioned from this life to his heavenly resting place on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at the Hospice Center in Milford, Delaware Rubeon was educated in the Symrna school system, graduating from Smyrna High School in 1965. He later obtain his certification for heating and plumbing from Delaware Technical and Community College. Rubeon was a lifelong member of Bethel AME Church. He held numerous positions and most recent was head trustee. He took pride in all the tasks affiliated with the church and Rubeon will always be remembered as a vital member of Bethel AME Church. He always strived for perfection, and he liked all things neat and in order, as we all know! He was employed by Acme Markets and later retired as a night shift supervisor after 25 years of service and later purchased his sanitation business from his uncle, Julius Butcher. Rubeon acquired his dump truck, school bus, and in 1983 he made his first real estate purchase and from then on he and his wife were very successful as real estate managers. Rubeon and Dorothy also purchased a chicken farm in which they were contractors with Purdue from 1998 to 2003. As recently as April 30, 2015, they sold the Woodland Manor mobile home park due to retirement. Rubeon was a proud and dedicated member of St. John's Lodge #7. He also belong to John F. Slater Lodge #2561. Brother May was also a Past Master. He belong to CP Houston Jr. #119 consistory and also and assistant marshal of MWPHGL. He also obtained his 32nd degree. Rubeon love fishing, hunting, gardening, reading, and traveling the world and endured numerous shopping trips with his wife right by his side! He was a very devoted family man to his immediate and extended family and also a mentor to many. He loved to spread the word about his Savior Jesus Christ. Rubeon was preceded in death by his late parents, Calvin and Wilhelmina May. He will greatly be missed by his wife, Dorothy E. May; his children, Dorinda A. Abernathy (Jeff Abernathy), Rubeon Darren May, Sr., and Tilicia A. May; his grandchildren, Rubon D’Juan May, Shanice Abernathy, Rubeon Darren May, Jr., Desmon Abernathy, Jason Sammons, Jr., Dareka Abernathy, Darrell Abernathy, Dayshiana Abernathy and Daeron May; eight great-grandchildren, and his sister, Linda Needam (George), one aunt, two uncles; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends.
