Rosetta Duggins

Rosetta Hunter was born the 2nd child of Mr. & Mrs. Timothy and Wilhemina Hunter, on September 30, 1946, in New York City, New York. Educated in the public school system of New York, Rose went on to become a beautician, home health care attendant and member of the Catholic school system. Rose met her lifelong love and dance partner, Ronald Duggins in junior high school and later when they were adults - at a dance. Their dancing eventually led to the birth of three sons, Tavey and twins Jason and Joel. These four males were the center of her life, along with their daughter, Darnell, granddaughter Brittney, and her grandson and "hot mess", JVon. Rose was a dedicated employee and worked diligently for years, until caring for her mother, Mrs. Hunter, became an additional priority for her life. She remained committed to her mother's care and balanced that responsibility while maintaining and managing her own family and home. After the passing of her mother and years of being a "City Girl", Rose accepted Ron's idea and plan to move to Delaware. Leaving the other loves of her life behind was a tough transition for her, but after some time, Rose appreciated the opportunity to participate in one of her favorite past times - gardening. Along with her green thumb, Rose loved to read, collect anything Mickey Mouse and as many teddy bears as possible. Having their own room, was her evidence of her love for her Mickey Mouse and teddy bear collections. Her life; however, here in Delaware was not all gardening, Mickey Mouse and teddy bears. Rose made the time to become a certified auxiliary police officer, just as she had when she lived in the Bronx. Also while in the Bronx, she served as the Chairperson of Community Board 12 and she continued her civic duty in her home town of Cheswold, by serving as their one and only Town Hall office community volunteer. The energy and love of life that Rose exhibited in everything she did, extended to her participation in the Delaware Senior Olympics where she received a 1st place award in the walking race. Age was but a number to Rose. It did not interfere with anything she wanted to do. From working the fire hose of a super pumper fire truck; to riding a mechanical bull; to pulling weeds for hours or dancing until the cows came home. Positivity was her nature and to be her friend will be a continuing honor and pleasure. Also to be known and ever remembered is that Rose put the interests of her family first, and saw to it that her children were given the best she could provide, in loving care. After 43 years of marriage, her dedicated and loving husband Ronald Duggins is left to memories of their life together, along with their children, Tavey, Jason, Joel, and Darnell. Also, to share those memories of Ro-Ro are granddaughter, Brittney and grandson JVon; her sisters Liz, Arlene, and Lorraine, along with her brothers Timothy and Michael. There are also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws who have memories of their own. And because Rose was a friend beyond reproach, she will be remembered especially by her friends, Trina Wills, Lisa Poteat (Butch), Barbara Rivers (Wayne) and Theon "Sam" Callender (Rodney). Finally and most important, Rose's acceptance and relationship to and with Christ will provide her an eternal.
