Ronald Joseph Redding

Ronald J. Redding, 61 of Princess Anne, MD was born March 14, 1959 to the late Helen Johnson Redding and the late James Redding. Ronald went to his eternal rest on Thursday, September 24, 2020. Ronald was educated in the Somerset County Public School System and graduated in the class of 1978. He attended a year of college before deciding to join the U.S. Navy where he served a total of 12 ½ years and 1 year with the Army National Guard. Ronald was a hard worker and held many jobs to provide for his family. He did security at Montgomery Ward, Zayre, Boscov’s, UMES, Department of Social Services, Wicomico Detention Center, ECI and Super Max in Baltimore for a total of 25 years in Correction. He also officiated basketball for many years for ages youth through college. He umpired girls’ softball for several years. He was an active member of the Princess Anne Fire Department, National Basketball Association and worked in the Athletics Department at UMES for many years, and God knows how he still found time to cut grass, power wash, detail cars, and help others in times of need. Ronald loved to play the drums and sang with several gospel choirs. Just this January he spoke for the first time at New Psalmist Non – Denominational Church. Ronald is survived and loved by his wife of 35 years Isha Redding, one daughter –Tiffany (Donte); three sons Dominic, Sr. (Monica); Lamar and Rondell (Jade); 21 grandchildren: Dominic Jr., Nia, Morgan, Christopher, Khalil, Taylor, Tyler, Taliyah, Lamar Jr., Nicholas, Nyannah, Mikayla, Amara, Landyn, Jayden, Raheem, Journee, Ryan, Nari, Tristin, and Teagan. Four sisters: Laura Polk (Jaye), Oneida Walker (Alexander), Cherry Doane and Sis/Mom Priscilla Redding. Father - in - law, Lawrence Wise (Brenda); two brothers – in – law, Julian and Rudell White; two sisters – in – law Arnelda Redding (Omar), Arvenia Saunders (William Jr.) and Linda White. Grandmother – in – law Phyllis Cropper; three aunts, Agnes Jenkins (Richard), Margaret Johnson and Gladys Collins (Thomas Sr.), two uncles – in –law, William Trader (Marie) and Alphonso Hemmeain (Cherrae). Other family include Warren Carter (Marie), a multitude of nieces and nephews that were more like his children and a host of other family and friends. Four special friends that were like brothers to him: Oliver Wigfall, Ivan Barkley Sr., Leroy Gaines and Walt Stevenson. He is preceded into eternity by two siblings, Ardrilla Jackson and James Henry
