Robert Lee Thompson Jr.

Robert Lee Thompson, Jr. was born on June 7, 1946 in Baconton, Georgia to Robert Lee Thompson, Sr. and Hattie P. Thompson. He was the third older child of eight children. Robert began his life in Mitchell County, GA. His parents moved to Secretary , MD in 1946. He had his early education at Hurlock Elementary School in Hurlock, MD in 1951. He attended Maces Lane High School in Cambridge, MD. Robert worked 10 years for Dick Van Burge of St. Michaels, MD, where he got his start in landscaping. In the mid 80s, he started his own landscaping business. He serviced all of St. Michaels, Easton and the surrounding areas. In 2008, he retired from Christ Church of St. Michaels after 18 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, flea markets, auctions, yard sales, singing and playing the guitar. Bishop Thompson was baptized in Jesus name and received the Holy Ghost in June of 1974 under the leadership of the late Ernest Copper at Gospel Tabernacle Apostolic Faith Church #5. He was a member of the Usher Board, Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent, Deacon Board and Trustee of the Church. Bishop became Pastor under the leadership of his late wife, Pastor Georgene Thompson. He was District Elder and United District Chairman with the Pentecostal Assembly of Churches of Jesus Christ, Inc. with headquarters in Havre de Grace, MD under the leadership of the late Bishop Charles Johnson and Alfred Johnson, Bishop Huey Harris and Presiding Bishop Harry T. Lee, Sr. He was a faithful man in the Lord. What ever his hands could find to do he would do it. Bishop was a man with a giving spirit and would do anything for the people of God, associations, family and the community. Playing the guitar, singing and preaching for the Lord was his joy. His legacy will never be forgotten. On November 30, 2013, Bishop Robert L. Thompson, Jr. and Missionary Ontranette N. Parks were united in holy matrimony for such a time as this. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Ontranette Thompson of St. Michaels, MD; daughter, Celeste A. Smith of Aberdeen, MD; son, Paul D. Smith, Jr. of Aberdeen, MD; five grandchildren, Re’chad, Brian, Maurice, Re’chauna and Ty’zhae; one great-grandchildren, Jada Marie; three brothers-in-law, Gregory E. Gibson, Sr., (Evangelist Linda) of North East, MD, Paul V. Parks and Vernon T. Parks of Aberdeen, MD; two sisters-in-law, Leontine M. Quant and Sharon S. Parks of Orlando, FL; his siblings, Brannie P. Green of Orlando, FL, Agnes Allen of Easton, MD, Helen T. Freeman of Easton, MD, Hattie B. Jones (Cecil) of Union Springs, AL and Eddie Thompson, Quantico, MD; one uncle, Dempsey (Vera) Thompson of Chicago, IL; and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends; special friends, Pastor Dorothy Holden, Bishop Harry Lee, Sr., Bishop Earl Wilson, Bishop Huey Harris, Bishop Rodriguez and all the saints of the P.A.C. of J.C., Inc. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Thompson, Sr.; brothers, Ruben Thompson, Willie T. Thompson, Sr. and Pastor Georgene O. Thompson..
