Robert Henry Gray

Robert Henry Gray was born in April 9th 1936 in West Virginia to John Gray and Susie Gray. He passed away on August 23rd 2016 in Salisbury Md with his daughter, Natalie Gray by his side. Robert or “Greg” as he was often called by his wife attended Morris College in North Carolina where he received his bachelor’s degree. Robert later attended Washington Baptist Seminar School of Divinity. He was licensed in 1970 to preach the Gospel of Ministry. He was employed at The Washington Hospital Center as an area manager in Washington DC for 17 years. He worked at Howard University for 5 years and also was a security officer at Commando for 4 years. Anyone who knew and had any type of dialogue with Robert knew what a smart and intelligent man he was. He always spoke and taught the importance of getting an education and applying it to life. He also was a man who knew the bible front and back. He was very knowledgeable when it came to the word. But don’t get him misunderstood, he had a mouth on him that could go toe to toe with the best of them. If you were ready to have a debate, he could do it like no other. His Granddaughter London, was his soft spot. She had the ability to make him eat, drink and even be quiet. A trait no other person held. He would often call his oldest daughter to tell her, you better tell Nico stop beating on my sweet baby. But anyone who knows London knows she is like her granddaddy and probably started it. Robert had a love for Old School Gospel Hymns, Boxing, Crab cakes, Pinto Beans and Pepsi. Give him all 5 and you found your way into his heart. As giant as his stature and personality, he could be a gentle and loving. He will be missed. Robert Henry Gray is preceded in death by his parents, John and Susie Gray, son, Darryl Gray and two half-sisters. He leaves behind is wife Lisa Smiley-Gray of 39 years whom he adored. He leaves behind his three brothers, Roosevelt Gray, Thomas Gray and James Gray. He also leaves 4 children and 1 son-in-law behind. Robert Gray Sr of Washington DC, Kevin Gray of Washington DC, Nicola Morgan of Columbia MD, Natalie Gray of Salisbury MD and his son-in-law Eric Morgan. Robert has 5 grandchildren, Rober Boston, Kamerin Brown, Jaiden Brown, London Baptiste and Nico Morgan. He leaves a host of love ones behind.
