Robert Van Cottman Jr.

Obituary Robert Van Cottman, Jr., at the age of fifty-three (53), passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Tidal Health Hospital in Salisbury, Maryland. Born on Tuesday, May 21, 1968 in Salisbury, Maryland, he was the son of Robert Van Cottman, Sr. and Evalee McCleese. Robert attended Wicomico High School, graduating with the class of 1986. He was employed by Shore Distributors and also by Wor-Wic Community College as a driver instructor. On May 31, 1991 he met the love of his life, the late Mordeen Marie Cottman. They married on February 19, 1999 and made their home in Salisbury, Maryland where they loved entertaining family and friends. Robert unfailingly loved his family and was deeply devoted to his wife and two sons. He enjoyed passing on knowledge and giving great advice. His infectious laugh always got others to laugh along with him and his smile was charming and warm. Robert enjoyed watching Baltimore Ravens football games with family and unknown fans as he never met a stranger, no matter the generation. He showed strength and love for his family, friends, colleagues and community and was always there for everyone, right up until his last day with us. Unforgettable memories of Robert’s life and legacy will be cherished by: his father, Robert Cottman, Sr. (Carol) and his mother, Evaleee McCleese; two sons, Brooks (Kim) Cottman and Tyler (Tyneisha) Davis; one granddaughter, Maya Cottman; mother-in-law, Jeanette Cottman and father-in-law, Omar Cottman (Joyce); six brothers, Dean McCleese, Jr. (Ebony), Leon Moore, Robert Cottman III (Nichelle), Bruce Cottman (Alicia), Bryant Cottman and Kendall Perkins; two sisters, Denise Cottman and Roben Cottman; two brothers-in-law, Robert Cottman (Barbara) and Reginald Deshields (Shay); four sisters-in-law, Naomi Fontaine, Annette Maddox (Charles), Sherell Brady and Gayla Deshields; two uncles, Irvin and Tommy; three, aunts, Jannie, Iris and Novella Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
