Richard S Wilson Sr.

Richard Stanley Wilson, Sr. was the son of the late Sylvester S. Wilson Sr. and Virginia L. Wilson. He was born December 4, 1952, in Wilmington, Delaware. He graduated from Smyrna High School. Richard was noted for his great athletic ability as a football player. Richard began his long career with the State of Delaware while in High School. He was an intern and eventually acquiring certificates and completing classes that enabled him to become the Head Dietary Chef at Delaware Home and Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna, DE, where he worked for 34 years until the age of retirement. He then began to work for the Smyrna Opera House where he was loved by all. Many years of this period, he also owned and operated his own Lawn and Landscaping Business. He enjoyed working with people and going the extra mile to do his job to the best of his ability. Richard attended Sunday school at an early age at Friendship A.M.E Church. He also attended Emmanuel A.M.E Church which was the family church, at that time it was Lockwood A.M.E. Richard Wilson loved his family. He enjoyed family and friend gatherings and used his cooking ability to make them special to all. He loved politics and spent many hours encouraging persons to vote and to become involved with the world around them. Richard enjoyed fixing and collecting unique cars. He watched over his loved ones by riding around daily to make certain all family homes were intact. He also called everyday and every night to be certain all was well. He is survived by one daughter, Tonia Williams of Smyrna, DE; son-in-law, Bruce Williams of Middletown, DE; three sons, Richard Wilson, Jr. of Smyrna, DE, Joseph Moore of Newark, DE and Miles Wilson of Dover, DE; extended family and dear to him were, Norma Reed, Kim Reed, Pauline Smith and Allen Reed of Townsend, DE; a brother, Donald Lloyd Wilson (Dr. Brigitte Wilson), preceded in death brother, Sylvester Wilson, Jr. (Rose Wilson); sister, Dr. Linda Hackett (Donald Hackett); eight grandchildren and two great- grandchildren; Honorary Brother Larry Watson; a devoted cousin, Russell Wisher, nieces, nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.
