Remona Cardoza

Remona Cardoza, born in Cambridge, Maryland on Saturday, November 29, 1941, was the daughter of the late Lillie and Allen Camper. Remona attended school in Dorchester County. She moved to New York City at an early age. Remona was married to Albert Cardoza and had one son, Gary N. Carriero. Remona loved taking care of people, especially the elderly. She attended Greenwich Woods Health Care Center to become a Certified Nursing Assistant, so that she could better serve her clients. Upon completion of her classes, Remona became a Certified Nursing Assistant, and was then employed by Greenwich Hospital in Greenwich, Connecticut, a position she held for many years. In addition for her love for people, she had a love for dogs as well. From the time her son was a young boy, he could remember having a dog around. There was Muffy, Taffy, Boomer and her last dog, Rocky, whom she loved so much. Rocky died a few days prior to her passing. Remona was well known to her Maryland and New York family for her cooking and entertaining. She would have big cookouts and everyone on the block was invited. When she would go home to Maryland, before she left, she would cook a large meal for everyone, at her brother Carroll's house. Remona and Gary discussed plans for the 80th birthday. Her plans were to come home and celebrate it with her family. At the age of 79, Remona still had the desire to work: "hustle", she called it. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Remona spent her last few months, at home. Remona loved God and was a member of Bethesda Church, where she served as an usher. Reverend Washington was her pastor. Remona departed this life on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at her home, at the age of 79. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, RoseLee Molock and Dorothy Singletary; and three brothers, Phillip, Donald and Carroll. Precious memories will be cherished by her son, Gary N. Carriero, (Debbie); two grandsons, Gary Carriero, Jr. and Zefferino Carriero; two granddaughters, Julia Carriero and Audrey Carriero, all of New York; four sisters, Esther Thomas, Gloria Jones (Milton), Camilla Cooper (Robert), Cardeaner Robinson (Andrew); two brothers; Allen Camper (Virginia) and Eugene Camper (Betty); and one sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Camper, all of Cambridge, Maryland; Matthew Davis, who was like a son to her; best friends, Sue Davis and Donna Hearing, all of New York; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Remona was a very loving person and will be missed by all.
