Rasheed Lakiem Lewis

Rasheed’s Story Rasheed Lakiem Lewis was born in Salisbury, Maryland to Larry Lewis (Ranae) and Diandra Bratten (William). His earthly journey ended April 7, 2023. Rasheed became a member of Tyree AME Church and accepted Christ under the leadership of Reverend Robert Brown. He sang with the Youth Choir and participated in many Church School events. He was inspired to have a “Kids Day” full of fun activities. Rasheed graduated with the Class of 2007 from Stephen Decatur High School. He was very creative and had a great appreciation for the Arts. While in high school he began playing guitar and became a member of a band called “Jaundice.” Rasheed didn’t take the path of playing the traditional sports in high school. However, he was an avid sports fan and liked watching basketball and any NFL football team. For a couple of years, he showed an interest in archery and practiced at a local range. He acquired a passion for skateboarding and rarely left the house without his board. It didn’t take him long to master an “Ollie.” He enjoyed swimming and his skateboarding skills led him to try his hand at surfing. Rasheed attended Wor-Wic Community College after graduating, but decided to leave the structure of the classroom and develop his skills in painting and sculpture. Rasheed began working at the age of 15 at Mackey’s Bayside Bar and Grill. He was employed by other retail and hospitality establishments in the Ocean City area. Then he aspired to be self-employed. After relocating, he founded and managed the “Labor Unlimited” moving company. That gave him time to be creative and paint. He was able to submit paintings to a gallery that showcased the works of novice painters. Rasheed was full of life, had vast opinions and definite ideas on mostly everything. Most importantly, despite health challenges over the past couple of years, Rasheed had a heart that loved. Rasheed leaves to cherish his love and memories with: his parents; sisters, Ameerah Lewis, Tyshauna Reid, Amira Bratten, and Orlandia Redding; brothers, Tymir Lewis, Kadin Lewis, Jayden Bratten and Orlando Redding; grandfather, Larry Briddell; grandmothers, Lottie Shockley, Ruth Bratten, and Jamie Coston; great uncles and aunts, Avery Purnell (Mommy Mary), Frederick Coston and Pauline Shockley; uncles, Nolan Lewis, Sylvester Lewis, Dominick Shockley and Diyonka Shockley; aunts, Cindy Lewis, Dirvonya Shockley, and Dupree Coston and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends. Rasheed was proceeded in death by his grandmother, Francis Briddell and grandfathers, Ernest Coston and William Bratten, Sr. SUBMITTED WITH LOVE ~ THE FAMILY
