Phyllis Paulette Timmons

THE OBITUARY “Our family circle has been broken, but our faith and trust in God is not. For He is too just to make a mistake and too wise to err.” PHYLLIS PAULETTE TIMMONS, daughter of the late John Frederick Crawley and Mabel Frances Harvey, was called to her heavenly home on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, Maryland, following a lengthy illness. She was born on September 27, 1946 in Millsboro, Delaware. Phyllis received her formal education in the public schools of Accomack County, Virginia. At an early age, she received Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. She joined St. James United Methodist Church in Pocomoke City, Maryland, where she was an active member of many committees; however, she was best known for her service as a member and president of the Usher Board. If there was an Usher’s Day being held, you were almost guaranteed to see Phyllis there. Phyllis was united in holy matrimony to Weldon Timmons; they shared over fifty-three (53) years of marriage. Willing to do whatever it took to make ends meet and care for her family, Phyllis occupied various employment positions throughout her working years. She spent many years as an employee of Moore’s Business Forms in Snow Hill, Maryland, but ultimately retired as a teacher’s assistant at Cedar Chapel Special School in Snow Hill, Maryland. She later went on to become a personal caregiver to many until her health began to fail. Phyllis was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who enjoyed fellowship with other people. She was also a God-fearing, praying woman who remained strong in the Lord, and she instilled these qualities in her family. Being a very outspoken woman, you could count on Phyllis to tell you the truth, whether you wanted to hear it or not. But if you ever needed her, she was always there. Phyllis was a no-nonsense woman who strived to handle every situation the best way she knew; she lived her life according to the saying that “you reap what you sow.” In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by two brothers, Frederick Crawley, Sr. and Elmoses Harvey, Jr. She leaves to cherish many fond memories: her husband, Weldon Timmons of Pocomoke, MD; four daughters, Yomeka Timmons of Salisbury, MD, Patricia Gattis of Delmar, MD, Patrice Timmons of Pocomoke, MD, and Katrina Timmons of Accokeek, MD; one son, Skky Townsend of Pocomoke, MD; one godson, Antonio Allen of Norfolk,VA; five grandsons, Tervon Revels (whom she raised as her own), Denzel Timmons, David (DJ) Gattis, Jr., Deion Gattis, and Alexander (AJ) Crippen, Jr.; three granddaughters, Tiarra Taylor, RaChaya Timmons and Nevaeh Townsend; four great-granddaughters; Kimora Holden, Omyrah Williams, Saliyah and SaNiah Simon, one sister, Vanessa Harvey of Pocomoke, MD; three brothers, Norman Crawley, Sr. and Edwin Harvey, both of Pocomoke, MD and Ricky Harvey of Princess Anne, MD, two sisters-in-law; Barbara Harvey, of Delmar, MD and Hattie Crawley of Withams, VA and a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
