Patricia Ann Demby

Remembering a Blessed Life Patricia Ann (Scott) Demby, 71 passed away peacefully on October 4, 2023, at Compass Regional Hospice in Centreville, MD. Patricia was born on August 19, 1952, in Easton, MD to the late William Eugene Scott Sr. and Irene Shirley Truxon. Patricia received her early education in the Queen Anne’s County Public School system. She pursued higher education at Chesapeake College in Wye Mills, MD. Patricia was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her immediate and extended family, vacationing on the Jersey Shore, fishing, barbecuing, baking, and watching movies every weekend! In their youth, Patricia and Butch coached and played softball, ran a record store in the heart of Centreville, and enjoyed farming and raising animals. In her later life after retirement, she enjoyed taking cruises and spending as much time with her family as she could. Patricia was a devout Christian and member of Earle’s Chapel United Methodist Church, which later merged with Charles Wesley U.M. Church and was renamed New Life Community United Methodist Church in Centreville, MD, where she held many positions and offered help whenever she could. Patricia enjoyed teaching and has touched so many lives in her 36 years as an employee of the Queen Anne’s County Board of Education. Patricia never stopped furthering her education and making moves until she made it her dream of teaching. Patricia or Pat, as she was affectionately called by her colleagues at Sudlersville Elementary School, left a lasting impression as the computer lab teacher. Patricia will be fondly remembered as one of the most loving and selfless mothers, grandmothers, and friend. We will always remember her working in her yard and flower beds, cutting grass, completing puzzles, and traveling to sporting events with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, William Scott Sr; her mother Irene Truxon; her brother William Scott Jr.; and a sister Dyann White. Patricia leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 50 years (55 total together) Harry “Butch” Demby III; her daughter Tiara Rhoades (Scott); her son Harry “LB” Demby IV; one step-daughter, Titania Demby; two bonus daughters, Delma and Myrna Riley; seven grandchildren: Leah, Willem and Reagan Rhoades, Richard Keene III, Raychard Davenport, Seleta Demby, and Tony Gattica, and four great-grandchildren. Two Sisters, Peggy Smith (Wesley) and Lucretia Anthony(Charles); two brothers, Michael Scott, and Thurman “Bosley” Truxon Jr.; two brothers-in-law, Reginald Demby Sr. (Kim) and Elbert Demby; one sister-in-law, Gladysmae Demby-Smith; a special aunt-in-law, Anna Hawkins Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.
