Parthenia Lucille Greene (Jones)

The Obituary Parthenia Lucille Jones Greene peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 7:45 PM at Signature Health Care at Mallard Bay surrounded by her loving family. Often called “Jitterbug” by her family, she was born on January 31, 1943 in East New Market, Maryland to the late Marshall Jones and the late Eunice Lenora Jones. Her education was acquired through the schools of Dorchester County where she graduated from Mace’s Lane High School in the “Class of 1961.” Parthenia became a licensed cosmetologist working in Loretta’s Beauty Shop with shop owner Loretta Young. Later she worked for the Eastern Shore State Hospital as a Medical Records Clerk for approximately 22 years until her retirement in January 2011. On December 26, 1976, she married the love of her life, Mr. Hansel Greene. They were married for 42 years and from this union they have four children. Parthenia’s Christian walk began at Zion Baptist Church, Cambridge, Maryland with over 20 years of attendance and service there. She later joined New Revelations Baptist Church in Cambridge, Maryland, while there she served faithfully as an usher and on the Hospitality Committee until her health failed. Her church, church family and her Christian walk were very important to her. Ms. Parthenia loved to have everything in its place, especially her hair. She was a very good cook, known for her “home made” macaroni and cheese and her yeast rolls. She was a “soft spoken” person while knowing exactly how to get her point across. Even during her illness, she still tried to help do things while just pushing herself. She truly loved her family. Mrs. Greene is survived by her husband, Hansel Greene; three daughters, Shawn Greene, Charlotte, North Carolina, Dr. Tylia Worthington, Baltimore, Maryland and Keonia Greene, Cambridge, Maryland; one son, Adrian (Angie) Norris, Bridgeville, Delaware; three sisters, Delores Jones and JoAnn Dickerson both of Cambridge, Maryland and Betty (Norman) Brice, Easton, Maryland; four brothers, Lycurtis (Beulah) Jones, Aireys, Maryland, Clevon Jones, Salisbury, Maryland, Clifton (Shirley) Jones, Delmar, Maryland and Edward Jones, Blades, Delaware; father-in-law, Bishop Ernest Paige, Tampa, Florida; sisters-in-law, Mable Greene, Raleigh, North Carolina, Silvia Paige, Tampa, Florida and Carlese Lofton, Ocala, Florida; a brother-in-law, Gary Greene, Cambridge, Maryland; eight grandchildren, KeonAndre Greene, Cambridge, Maryland, Aaron Davis, Prince Georges County, Chazmin (Dee) Dean and Mychael Greene both of Charlotte, North Carolina, Wayne Mitchell and NyTia Mitchell both of Baltimore, Maryland, Antonia McCoy, and BrianTaza Todd both of Bridgeville, Delaware and six great-grandchildren, an aunt, Lucinda Jones, an uncle, Arthur Jones and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Special Cousins were Geraldine Dockins, Cousin Lettie Mae Young, Cousin Ellen Stanley and Cousin Audrey Bowers Special friends who were like family include Ethel Gibson, Linda Bramble, Carlton Stanley, Beverly Ferguson, Ronald and Monti Beasley and Pastors Lamont and Mia Jackson. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, aunts, uncle, a sister-in-law, Paulette Jones and mother-in-law Mable Paige .
