Nora Louise Thomas

If I should go tomorrow, it would never be goodbye. For I have left my heart with you, so don’t you ever cry. The love that’s deep within me, shall reach you from the stars. You’ll feel it from the heavens, and it will heal the scars. Nora Louise Scott Thomas, daughter of George Thomas and Ada Adline Berryman Scott, was born February 10, 1931 in Rock Hall, MD. Early on Sunday morning January 29, 2017 at Compass Regional Hospice, the Lord called her home. Louise was educated and graduated from the Kent County Public School system. Her early employment was domestic work. She later was employed by the Campbell Soup Company in Chestertown, MD and remained there until she retired in 1993. After taking a short break from work, she returned to domestic work, and did it off and on until December, 2016. She loved what she did and it seemed to keep her thriving. Her life was ordered by the lessons of nature and under the direction of God. At an early age, Louise joined the Aaron Chapel United Methodist Church. As a member of the assembly, she became an avid and devoted member, willing to do all that was humanly possible to serve her God and her church. She served as communion steward and was a current member of the United Methodist Women. On June 28, 1952, she married Arvell Andrew Thomas, Sr. with whom she shared more than 64 years. From that union, they had four children. The love she had and showed others is what will carry us through this difficult time and will forever keep her in our hearts. Some of her passions were jigsaw puzzles and crosswords. Louise was preceded in death by one daughter, Karen Thomas Wilson, her parents and her siblings. She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Arvell A. Thomas, Sr. of Rock Hall, MD; daughter Gloria A. Thomas of Philadelphia, PA; one son, Arvell A. Thomas, Jr., of Rock Hall, MD; and daughter Gabrielle C. Thomas of Newark, DE. Mommom and G.G. Mom will also be sadly missed by 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; five close friends-Hilda Sisco, Patricia Williams, Barbara Warner, Vanessa Lomax, and Judith Kennard, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and associates.
