Nathaniel W. Howell

Nathaniel was born at Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford, Delaware on February 16, 1975. His maternal grandmother, Shirley R. Howell, reared him, and he viewed himself as her youngest child. At a young age, his grandmother taught him Christian principles and Nathaniel was baptized at the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. For most of his life, family and close friends referred to him as Thanny. He completed elementary school at H.O. Brittingham Elementary in Milton, Delaware. He then went to Milton Junior High and Cape Henlopen High School and graduated. Nathaniel was an avid reader, preferring historical and African-American literature. He was also a talented writer. One of his great-aunts has stated that his writing would have pleased even Mrs. E. C. Dix, the English and literary maven at William C. Jason High School of yesteryear. Thanny touched the lives of many whose paths he crossed. Family had become very important to him. His recent contacts with his parents and his siblings served to affect his life in positive ways. He seldom missed opportunities to be with family, despite the distances he sometimes had to travel. He was a fun loving person who lived fully, laughed often and cared deeply about friends and family. He was seldom seen without that infectious smile. Being concerned about his health, he spent a good deal of time exercising in an effort to keep his mind and his body fit. Nathaniel is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mrs. Marie and Mr. Frank Watson. Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Ms. Wendy Howell of Houston, TX; his father, Larry Nathaniel Watson of Wilmington, DE; his maternal grandmother and Mom to him, Ms. Shirley Howell of Ellendale, DE; two daughters - Lance Corporal Martice LeShae Dixon, U.S. Marine Corps and Tiajsha Schoolfield of Parksley, VA; three sisters - Ms. Shequita Lewis of Lincoln, DE, Ms. LaDishka Howell and Ms. Keturah Nelms, both of Houston, TX; six aunts - Mrs. Regina Davis (Elbert) of Ellendale, DE, Mrs. Vanessa Jones (Mark) of Lanham, MD, Mrs. Ella Rogers (Howard) of Coconut Creek, FL, Mrs. Denise Jones (Jerry) of Douglasville, GA, Mrs. Paulette Watson of Dover, DE and Ms. Brenda Watson of Milford, DE; six uncles - Frank Watson, Jr. of Milford, DE, Henderson Watson of Dover, DE, Kenneth Watson of Smyrna, DE, Terry Watson of Wilmington, DE, Edison Howell (Mary) of Milton, DE and Jeffrey Howell of Ellendale, DE; six great-aunts - Ms. Annie Dixon and Ms. Doretha Howard, both of Philadelphia, PA, Mrs. Essie Fountain of Milton, DE, Mrs. Audrey Sharpe (Willie) of Ellenwood, GA, Mrs. Jean Hazzard (Solomon) of Lincoln, DE, Mrs. Beverly Saez (Jose) of Magnolia, DE, Ms. Felicia Ennels and Ms. Faith Harris, both of Ellendale, DE; three Great-uncles - Cornelius Howell of Ellendale, Emory Howell (Otisha) of Houston, DE, Ronald Howell of Berlin, MD; two great-great aunts - Mrs. Daisey Daniels of Lincoln, DE and Mrs. Beulah Harvey of Milton, DE; two nieces and a host of cousins and friends.
