Muriel A. Stephenson

Muriel Adina Stephenson was born June 8, 1942 to Vernal and Agnes Rowe in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica W.I. She was the eldest of six children. She attended Mayfield All Age School (Jamaica W.I). In 1960 Muriel relocated to Fulham London, where she worked as a store clerk. In 1961 she met Nelvin Stephenson and got married in 1962. A couple years later Muriel started her family by having Sharon and Carol-Ann. Shortly after they migrated to Jamaica and had two more girls, Michelle and Dahlia. She worked at a Boy's Children home located at St Elizabeth Jamaica. In 2007 she migrated to the United States where she resided with her daughter Carol-Ann in Camden DE. and attended the Worship Christian Center. Muriel was a traveler and loved people. She liked to support couples in what to do in order to have a successful marriage. One of her co-worker (Shelly Parchment) would state she always had a word of advise for my marriage and something wrapped in foil paper. (Muze) as she was often called would love to have company over and love to make sure everyone was fed and comfy. She would always asked: Carol does everyone have to leave?" I WISH THIS COULD GO ON FOR DAYS. Sometimes she would be in Jamaica, Canada and the US. People loved her wherever she went. She does not only have four daughters, but has an abundance of many other children who would call her mom, grandma, and aunty. Her niece Racquel would often make sure she had her green beans to pick. Her niece, Jackie would wait for her wake up call every week to do her Saturday evening chores. Her favorite past time was when she would sit and do her word puzzle book she would frequently call her home work. In August of 2014, she was diagnosed with cancer and shortly after died with her children at her bedside. She is survived by her four daughters, Sharon of Long Island, NY, Carol- Ann (Nigel-Ray) of Camden, DE, Michelle of Long Island, NY, and Dahlia (Kim) of Jamaica WI. She leaves behind seven grandchildren, Shawn, Malakei, Omar, O'Shane, Nigelee, Kymani, and Joshua. Three great-grandchildren, Shantae, Malaysia and Nia. She was survived by four brothers, Lenworth of England, Valenter of Bronx, NY, Derrick and Oswin of Jamaica WI, one sister Cislyn Ellis of Brooklyn, NY. She leaves behind three uncles, Rodrick and Renford of Canada and Lucius of Jamaica WI; one aunt, Minnette of Brooklyn, NY and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
