Montez Warner Heyward was born on Thursday, August 12, 1976 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, DE to Shaheed Muhammad and Roslyn Heyward. What a beautiful bouncing baby boy and it was a pleasure for the entire family to care for him. He transitioned this life on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 in Seaford, DE. Montez was educated in the Seaford School District ending his formal education in 1994. He worked various jobs but his true passion was art. An artistic genius from an early age, Montez demonstrated a high intellect in his craft. He mastered all areas his creativity led him. Anything he put his mind to, he would not only do but also excel. With the help of a friend he learned to speak Spanish fluently. He had an innate passion for music, cooking, debating current events, writing, and reading poetry. He loved to laugh and could always be counted on to say something comical and to put a smile on your face. He enjoyed learning and was especially fond of ancient Hebrew culture and how it related to people of African descent. He truly loved his family and friends and had very special relationships with each and every one of them. Extremely caring, every night Montez would speak to his grandmother and mother before retiring. Sixteen years senior to his brother Julius, Montez stepped up to care for him while his mother worked, instantly creating a special bond between brothers. Montez was preceded in transition by his maternal great-grandmother, Lillian Camper, three great-aunts Claudia Jones (Sam, deceased), Sarah Lake (George, deceased) and Joyce McLendon. One uncle, Travis West (Pamela), Two great-uncles George Lake (Sara, deceased), Samuel Jones Sr. (Claudia, deceased), paternal grandmother, Edna Thompson, paternal grandfather, Johnny Clayton. He leaves precious memories with his mother, Roslyn Heyward, of Seaford, DE, his father Shaheed Muhammad (Wilma) of Brooklyn, NY, maternal grandmother, Thelma (NaNa) Heyward of Laurel, DE, maternal grandfather, Clayton Heyward of Seaford, DE. Four sisters, Tarryn Heyward (Lavar), of Felton, DE, Kalilia Russell and Denise Russell of GA, and like a sister, his cousin Kendrese Moorer of Dover, DE. Four brothers Julius Heyward, of Seaford, DE, Mustafa Russell, Shaheed Thompson, and Mitchell Thompson all of Brooklyn, NY. One niece, Caleigh Alsup of Felton, DE and three nephews of Brooklyn, NY. Five aunts and two uncles; Thonia Waters (Oliver), of Hebron, MD, Pamela West, (Tony, deceased), Tamela Heyward of Columbia, SC, Doris Suggs of Milford, DE, Carolyn Thompson (Donald) of Concord, DE, Clay Heyward of Dover DE, and Dwayne Heyward of Laurel, DE, and a host of cousins and extended family and friends.
