Miriam Estella Golden

Miriam Estella Blount Golden was born on December 8, 1940, in Baltimore, MD to the late Allen Blount, Sr., and Alice Downing Doane. She departed this life at Bay Harbor Nursing Home in Salisbury, MD on April 1, 2026, and into the loving arms of Jesus. Raised in Pocomoke City, MD, Miriam was educated in the public schools of Worcester County and was a proud graduate of the Worcester High School Class of 1958. During her senior year, she was Student Council Secretary, Assistant Secretary Senior Class, and Student Librarian. She briefly continued her formal education at Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD. On April 25, 1959, she married Edison D. Golden and their holy union led to the birth of three sons, two of which preceded her in death: Tyrone M. Golden and Eric G. Golden. Despite the demands of raising young children, Miriam would later graduate from the Jefferson School of Commerce, Salisbury, MD in 1969, where she learned short-hand, typing, and other secretarial skills. She put her business acumen to good use as an employee of Ames department store in Pocomoke City, from its opening until its closing, and as a teller at Peninsula Bank. A devoted wife, mother, and friend, Miriam found joy in maintaining meaningful relationships and helping others. From young adulthood to matriarch, she was the anchor that ensured the Downing, Blount, and Golden families flourished. Miriam was also an excellent cook and baker. Her three-layer German chocolate cake was always a featured item and savored treat, that reciprocated the loving hands which made it. Miriam gave her life to Christ at an early age and was an active member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Pocomoke City, until her health prevented her from regularly attending church in person. In addition to typing the weekly Bulletin and Order of Service for years, she was a member of the United Methodist Women, Finance Committee, Senior Choir, a Praise Dancer. In her passing, Miriam leaves to mourn her loving husband of 66 years Edison D. Golden, one son and daughter-in-law, Tilden A Golden and Stephanie M. Golden; five grandchildren: Erika M. Golden, Cameron A. Golden, Myles S. Golden, Morgan S. Golden, Enrique E. Golden, and one great granddaughter, Rayven E. Pye. She also leaves one sister, Kellie Holland, and one godson, Ronald D. Waters, three sisters-in-law: Eloise Marshall, Paulette Primus, Mary Dickerson, and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
