Melvin E. Saulsbury

The Life of Melvin E. Saulsbury lovingly called "Dad" by most and "Dee" by his grandchildren, began in Clayton, Delaware on August 6, 1931 to the late James Earl and Letha Warren Saulsbury. He departed this life and gained eternal life on Monday, August 26, 2013 at the NHC Healthcare in Bluffton, SC. Deacon Melvin Saulsbury accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. He was baptized with the Holy Ghost and shortly thereafter he acknowledged God's Call as a deacon. He was ordained as a Deacon on August 27, 1960, in which he served diligently in several ministries such as ushering, a member of the willing workers, the pastor’s aide ministries, singing on the choir and playing the drums, in Philadelphia, PA, Willingboro, NJ, Berlin, NJ and Savannah, GA. Deacon Saulsbury was widely known throughout the fellowship of Christian believers. He finished his course, he kept the faith. Deacon Saulsbury was united in holy matrimony to Ms. Iris Sylvia Cephas on July 24, 1955. They were happily married for 58 years and during that union they were blessed with four daughters. He enjoyed traveling with her and the family throughout the country as well as hosting visiting family members. He was employed at Occidental Chemical Corporation in Burlington, NJ for 20 years. For the past 14 years, he had been enjoying retirement in the beautiful Low Country of South Carolina. Deacon Saulsbury leaves fond memories with his loving wife, Iris Sylvia Saulsbury; four daughters, Adrienne (Darnell) of Arlington, VA, Geneva (Wayne) of Fayetteville, NC, Cheryl (Ralph) of Sicklerville, NJ and Eugenia (Gary) of Atlanta, GA and son, Emmett of Passaic, NJ; four granddaughters; six grandsons and two great-granddaughters; one sister, Gloria (Bishop Joseph P) Cooper of Camden, DE; three sisters-in-law, Ann Saulsbury of New York, Helen Saulsbury of Chesapeake, VA and JoAnne Favors of Elkton, MD; mother-in-law, Beatrice Cephas of Cherry Hill, NJ; one brother-in-law, Eddie Johnson of Rochester, NY; and a host of nephews and nieces along with other loving family members and friends. We love you. You will be in our hearts forever.
