The Life of Mary Louise Stanley Mary Louise Stanley, affectionately known as “Sisbaby or Sis” to family and friends, departed this life on Friday, June 17, 2022 at Tidal Health Nanticoke in Seaford, Delaware; she was 85 years old. She was born on October 3, 1936 in Petersburg, Maryland to the late Sherman Stanley and Hilda Jackson Stanley. Mary graduated from Maces Lane High School, Cambridge, MD; Class of 1954. She always amazed people by doing things she was told she would not be able to do. She learned how to drive at an early age and had a car equipped especially for her; she drove fast too. She could even pop the hood and tinker as well as anyone else. It was nothing for her to pack her bags and cross the Bay Bridge to visit her brother Ruddell and his family. She was the driver for her co-workers at Airpax Electronics in Cambridge, Maryland where she worked many years before retiring. After retiring, Sis enjoyed attending the Hurlock Senior Center where she fellowshipped with her friends and other retirees. They ate, made crafts, took trips, caught up on the Hurlock news, and enjoyed each other’s company. Mary was a member of Zorah United Methodist Church in Petersburg, MD where she started her love of singing. For many years, she sang with the United Gospel Travaliers under the direction of the late Gerald Aldridge and served as the group’s treasurer. For about twenty (20) years, she traveled from church-to-church singing God’s praises. When the three churches merged, Mary’s membership was also merged to Hurlock United Methodist Church (HUMC). At HUMC, Mary served as a greeter and Communion Steward until her health began to fail. She enjoyed spending time with her family. If it was a family gathering or just coming by to check on things, she was right there. Although she never had any biological children, she helped raise all of her nieces and nephews, a lot of her great nieces and nephews, and some of the great greats too. She held, rocked, and spoiled them until they were too heavy for her to hold, but you better believe that wasn’t the end; she was always parenting. Her smile was so beautiful that you couldn’t help but have your spirit lightened by her. She was a blessing to her family and friends, and she would help anyone in need. She will truly be missed by all!! Mary is survived by: four sisters, Frances Brown of Preston, MD, Brenda Gwynn of Greensboro, NC, Janice Rouse of Hurlock, MD and Mary L. Pindell of Annapolis, MD; one brother, William Stanley of Memphis, TN; one sister-in-love, Dorothy Stanley of Memphis, TN and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Sherman Stanley, Jr., Thomas R. Stanley, Sr. and Webster A. Stanley. Lovingly Submitted, The Family
