Mary Frances Hudson

MARY’S JOURNEY “Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” Proverbs 31:31NIV Mary Frances Short Hudson was born on August 23, 1950 to the late Catherine and James Short. She transitioned from earth to glory at the age of seventy-two (72) on August 10, 2023. “Mer Frances” or “Brown Sugar” as she was known by her family and friends, was educated in the public schools of Somerset County, Maryland. After being employed by DP&L and Showell Farms, Mary was employed at Perdue Farms for over thirty (30) years. Mary was a very vibrant and loving woman. She was the life of the party and could (and would ) say what was on her mind. She was known for awesome barbecues and family gatherings. She loved to cut up with family and enjoyed watching them laugh and make jokes. Mary was a no-nonsense woman who had no problem setting you straight. She was known for her sense of style and traveling. Mary was also known for her famous greens and mac & cheeses. She loved her Oldies but Goodies and her burgundy recliner. Mary was the president of the Glamorette’s Social Club of Salisbury, Maryland. She loved these women and often talked about their awesome parties. Precious memories will be shared by: her daughter, Wendy Hudson of Salisbury Maryland; her son, Lurese Hudson (Tricia) of Salisbury, Maryland; eleven grandchildren, Shardae’ Russell, Sharris Sample, Camry Conner, Ryneerah Hudson, Za’Ryah Hudson, Tayona Hudson, Diamonde Briscoe and Juwan Allen, all of Salisbury, Maryland, Thomas Hudson, Jr. and Nya Leatherbury, both of Princess Anne, Maryland and Keith Hudson, Jr. of Baltimore, Maryland; nine great grandchildren; five sisters, Elise White of Eden, Maryland, Beatrice Hearne of Fruitland, Maryland, Rita Handy of Manokin, Maryland, Cynthia Handy of Upper Hill, Maryland and Sharon Johnson of New Castle, Delaware; six brothers Charles Handy (Tammy) and Darnell Handy, both of Salisbury, Maryland, George Handy (Sheryl) of Upper Hill, Maryland, Richard Handy (Hope) of Princess Anne, Maryland, James Handy, Jr. (Maxine) and Timothy Handy, both of Wilmington, Delaware; one brother-in-law, Alfred Hudson (Anna) of Snow Hill, Maryland; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Jones of Salisbury, Maryland and Geraldine Hayward (Leon) of Allen, Maryland; two god daughters, Tamika Fulford of Cummings, Georgia and Te’Anna Turner of Salisbury, Maryland; two special nieces, Tamara Turner of Fruitland, Maryland and Shelia White of Eden, Maryland and a host of other family and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her two sons, Keith Hudson, Sr. and Thomas Hudson, Sr., her mother and father, Catherine and James Short, a sister, Agnes Waters and brother, Nicholas Handy.
