Martha Jones

Martha Ann Jones was born on April 16, 1956 in Newark, New Jersey. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Gertrude Jones. Martha was raised by her uncle and aunt, the late Samuel and Mozelle J. Gibbs. She received her education in Baltimore at Frederick Douglass High School. She completed two years of study at Essex Community College and received a Bachelor's Degree from Family Bible College. She was baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost on January 31, 1974 at an Eastern and Southern State Council Meeting of the Pentecostal Churches of Apostolic Faith, under the pastorate of the late Gladys Hairston of Bible Revival Deliverance Church. She sang as a member of the Eastern & Southern State Council Choir. In May 1983, she became a member of Greater Bethlehem Temple and served as choir president, church musician, and secretary. Martha was employed by GBT for a number of years as the Church Administrator. She also was a realtor with Long and Foster and did contractual work with several churches in the Baltimore and Washington areas with establishing their 501 (c) 3 statuses and church structure. When she was not attending GBT on a regular basis, Martha served as church musician for several churches in the Baltimore and Washington areas. She also assisted with the start up of a church in New Castle, DE as a pianist. Martha loved music, enjoyed home decorating and designing, playing word games, entertaining and discussing issues of special interest and debating. She leaves to cherish her memories: her spiritual parents, Bishop & Mother James D. Nelson, Sr.; two special, devoted friends, Sister Lynnette Henry and Elder Quentin Sa'lley; her church family, GBT; one life-time childhood friend, Ms. Antoinette Young of Clinton, MD; two sisters, Daisy Williams of Dover, DE and Tiny Mozelle Jones of Syracuse, New York; one brother, Keith Rippey of Manhattan, New York; two aunts, Mrs. Ruth McCall of Florida and Dr. Dorothy Folkes of New Jersey; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
