Martha Corbin

Martha Elizabeth Corbin passed away peacefully on Saturday February 16, 2013 at 6:35 a.m. from a foot infection caused by years of Hypertension that eventually caused Peripheral Vascular Disease. She was born March 31, 1915 and would have been 98 years old a little over a month from now. Elizabeth was the oldest daughter of nine siblings of parents, Joseph Littleton Corbin and Mary Hayward Corbin and was known as sister, aunt, sis or Nana by her siblings, family and grandchildren. It was her dream and desire to live to be 100 years old and had she lived two more years she would have reached that goal! Everyone that knew Elizabeth, knew she was always the one to come to if you needed anything. She always had a very giving spirit. She was the matriarch of our family and was a fiercely independent woman, most would even call her head-strong. Everyone respected "Sister, Aunt Sis or Nana. When she was able, Elizabeth actively attended St. Marks Church for Hayward Day with her sister, Lila Williams (deceased). Elizabeth was born and raised in Oakville/Princess Anne Maryland on March 31, 1915. She met William Tomlinson and to their union, produced two wonderful children Hazel Yvonne Wilkerson and Lorenzo Corbin, both preceding her in death a few years earlier. Elizabeth spent many years in New York working and eventually settled in Philadelphia where she worked for the Philadelphia School System as a teacher's assistant for many years. She enjoyed children and loved having her grandchildren around her. Elizabeth Corbin is survived by her last remaining sibling, Joseph Dennis (one daughter and grands): grandchildren Sharon Navitsky (Walter, Donovan and, Senya) of Colorado, Tracey Echols (Howard, Darius and Markus) of Illinois, Timothy Morris of Philadelphia, Derrick Morris (Fontane, Justus, Gemelle and Unique) of Philadelphia, Jeanine Corbin (Derrick, Sakirah and Lorenzo) of Camden, NJ, and Terry Corbin (Stephanie, Samantha, Lorenzo and Sean) of Philadelphia, and her various great grandchildren, nieces, & nephews and a hosts of loving cousins . Many whom are still located in Princess Anne and the Philadelphia area.
