Marsha Powell

Marsha Elaine Powell was born the daughter of the late Daniel Voiles Powell and Elizabeth Pritchett Powell on October 5, 1958 at Milford Memorial Hospital in Milford, DE. She departed this life on October 1, 2013 at Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Marsha received her education in the Lake Forest School District, where she played field hockey and wrote for the sports column at W. T. Chipman Junior High School in Harrington, DE. Marsha was employed at Delmarva Kenworth in Dover, DE for many years driving trucks and buses. She later found her place at the Capital School District, where she was employed for 17 years, until her health failed her. During that time, Marsha was very active in the community, always helping those in need and being a positive role model, mentoring young students and assisting the staff at Central Middle and Dover high schools. Her hard work didn't go unnoticed as she was later awarded the Community Citizens Award which was presented to her by Mayor Hutchinson for her outstanding work in the community. Marsha was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother. She was blessed with one child, her forever loving son, Thaddeus Lamont Powell. Thaddeus often referred to her as his teddy bear, the two were inseparable. She enjoyed cooking, dancing and family gatherings. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who she loved deeply. In all of her days and until her passing, Marsha was a loving and kind soul. Her presence will without a doubt be missed by all who knew her. Her smile, her laughter and her spirit will live on in our hearts and our memories. We love you Marsha, Daughter, Sister, Mother, Aunt and Friend forever and always. She was preceded in death by Daniel V. Powell, Sheila Powell and Daniel Baynard. Outlaw of Philadelphia, PA; 16 siblings, Sylvia Custis of Dover, DE, Stephanie Baker (Anthony) of Dover, DE, Sharon Clay (Jack) of Wilmington, DE, Carmela Powell of Dover, DE, Ordelia Jones of Columbus, OH, Darryl Powell (Tina) of Dover, DE, Sandra Rayne of Dover, DE, Karen Bunkley of Smyrna, DE, Dannie Powell (Caris) of Dover, DE, Ray Powell (Vivian) of Dover, DE, Jean Powell of Camden, DE, Steven Powell of Dover, DE, Joy Powell of Dover, DE, Barbara Baynard of Houston, DE, Faye Smith of Bradenton, FL, Myra Fountain of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren, Thaddeus L. Duffy, Maria I. Martinez, Darious M. Stribling, Tyree J. Stevens and Brittany M. Dixon all of Dover, DE; two great-grandchildren, Waseem Martinez and Zaviahn Arroyo; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
