Mark Anthony Blue

Mark A. Blue was born to the late Melvin H. Blue and Alma Blue in Wheeling, West Virginia, on January 10, 1951. He departed this life on August 1, 2018, at 67 years old. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and brother. Mark attended and graduated from East Technical High School in Cleveland, Ohio.He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1973 and retired in 1993. He attended Basic Training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas and Technical School at Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul, Illinois. During his 20 years of service, Mark’s favorite tours were in Okinawa, Japan and Dover Air Force Base, Delaware. In 1994, Mark began his second career with the State of Delaware as a Correctional Officer. He was assigned to the Howard R. Young Correctional Facility in Wilmington, Delaware, where he served more than 21 years. Mark officially retired in September 2015. In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by two sisters, Deborah Blue and Julie Abrams. Left to mourn are his wife, Judy Blue, of Dover, Delaware; sons, Marques Purnell of Dover, Delaware and Mario Blue of Cleveland, Ohio; one daughter, Danielle Blue of Odenton, Maryland; step-children, Andre Hughes of Dover, Delaware, Renell Carter of Harrington, Delaware, and Mack Carter of Brooklyn, New York. He was survived by step-mothers, Betty Blue and Jo-ann Lipsey; sisters, Regina Blue-Miller of Columbus, Ohio, Vanetta Blue-Jackson of Cleveland, Ohio, Sandra Blue of Cleveland, Ohio, Karen Blue of Toledo, Ohio, and Diana (Roderick) Blue-Gordon of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; brothers; Dennis Blue (Lisa) of Woodberry, Minnesota, Malcolm Blue of Columbus, Ohio, Melvin Abrams, Jr. (Kenyatta) of Cleveland, Ohio, and Christopher Blue of Akron, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Rebecca Yarborough (Kenneth) of Dover, Delaware, Diane Freeman of Dover, Delaware, Ernestine Mosely of New Jersey, and Theanne Johnson of Manassas, VA; brothers-in-law, Ernest Sudler of Milford, Delaware and Donald Sudler of Dover, Delaware; a special niece Cheryl Bryant (Steve) and their daughter Amber; 14 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
