Marjorie Wilkerson

Marjorie Elizabeth Wilkerson, better known as “Margie,” “Marj” and “Granny Marj”, was given her first breathe of life on February 1,1941, through her parents, the late James Burgess Sr. and Katie Earl. Margie was such a beautiful gift from God. She loved to buy things for her grandchildren and was always making sure everyone else was okay. She loved to go out to eat and sightsee. Her favorite snacks were chocolate ice-cream, chocolate cake and don't forget the plain potato chips! Whenever anyone was greeted by Margie you always got a smile and a kind word. She was a mother to all the Washington Park crew, "Parkside In The House!!!" Marj loved jigsaw puzzles, cross word puzzles, drawing and crocheting. When Marjorie gave her life to Christ, she always put God first. If you knew Marjorie, you knew, over 40 plus years ago, she had a head on collision and flatlined twice while in the hospital, but God said not so. She had no problem telling people her testimony. Marjorie was a member of Gospel Church Of God in Chestertown, Maryland, where Bishop Ronald T. Fisher is Pastor (Faith Life Church). She was a very active member until her health began to decline. She then moved to Delaware to live with her youngest daughter. Margie was first educated in Baltimore, Maryland, and then continued her education in the Kent County Public School system. Besides taking care of her family, she was employed by Campbell Soup Company for many years, Vita Foods Company, McCory's Department Store, Ames Department Store, The Kent County Hospital Morgue and she was the secretary of the Washington Park Community Pool. She also owned and operated a family bus for the Kent County Pubic Schools, “Bus 25". God allowed us to share Margie's love and joy for 77 years, until her earthly time was up on Sunday, March 18, 2018. Marjorie was preceded in death by her two sons, Leon Trusty, Jr. and Joseph Wilson, Jr.; three sisters, Elizabeth Hatchett, Rosalind Wilson and Jaqueline Foster; four brothers, Maurice Burgess, Thomas Burgess, William Burgess and James Burgess, Jr. In 1963, Marjorie married the late Dallas O. Wilkerson, and out of this union were three children, whom she leaves to cherish her memories, Danell Wilkerson of Chestertown, MD; Nechole Wilkerson Seymore of Dover, DE and Kenneth Wilkerson, Sr., of Rahway, NJ; one daughter-in-law, Darlene Wilson of Dover, DE; one son-in-law, Thomas Seymore of Princess Anne, MD; one brother-in-law, Luther Goodeen of Baltimore, MD; one sister-in-law, Lydia Corbin of Dover, DE; three sisters, DeLores Burgess, Doris Burgess and Joyce Goodeen; and one brother, Royce Burgess, all of Baltimore, MD, a stepmother, Henrietta Burgess of Baltimore, MD; and one aunt, Joan Zaners of Baltimore, MD; a special daughter, Marsha Wessell of Rahway, NJ;13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a ton of nieces, nephews, cousins friends and church family.
