Marjarine V Summers

On June 20, 2016, an angel from Heaven was sent to claim the soul of one of God's children, Marjarine Virginia Summers. She was born on December 31, 1931 to Jacob and Clara Sudler of Smyrna, Delaware. A lifelong resident of Smyrna, Delaware, Marjarine attended school in Smyrna and Booker T. Washington High School. Her work history had been at Town Cleaners in Smyrna, Braunstein’s (Blue Hen Mall), Nichols’ Department Store and with Social Security in Dover. She retired from Stevenson's Funeral Home after 30 years of dedicated service. Marjarine was a lifelong member of Bethel A.M.E. Church. She served for 40 years as a member of the Missionary Society. Over the years, Marjarine served on the Usher Board and the Stewards' Board. She was also a member of the Senior Choir and for many years, taught Sunday School. In 1949, Marjarine married her soul-mate in life, Naaman Summers, Sr., who preceded her in death in August of 1996. From their union, they were blessed with seven children: Sharon Summers, Naaman "Chuck" Summers, Jr. (Barbara), Ronald Summers, Sr., who preceded her in death in May of 2011(Jacqueline), Lawanda Wilkins (Alfonza), Cherylann Landis (Dennis), Gina Sullivan (Charles who preceded her in death in August of 2010), Darren who preceded her in death in February of 1993 and a step-son, Albert Bell who preceded her in death in November of 2014. Along with her children, she leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her memory 12 grandchildren: Dana Fountain, Stacey Summers, Keandrè Summers, Shanell Wilkins, Deven Burton, Ronald Summers, Jr., James Wilkins, Jason Wilkins, Tukèn Summers, Dawn Sullivan, Heather Summers preceded her in death in July of 1976 and Titus Wisher; 29 great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Robert Benson and William Turner, one sister-in-law, Delores Jackson; and a host of relatives and friends. In 1996, Marjarine suffered a series of strokes that changed her life forever. In 2010, Marjarine left her home in Delaware to reside with her daughter, Cherylann and son-in-law, Dennis in Maryland. She spent her time resting, relaxing and eating. She loved watching the old Westerns on T.V. She simply loved life.
