Margaret Howton

Margaret Elizabeth "Maggie" Howton 87 of Dover, DE died Wednesday, November 26 at Kent General Hospital following a fall in her home. Margaret worked for the Department of Defense personnel section of the Army Map Service (Army Topographic Command, Army Mapping Agency) and Bethesda Naval Hospital before retiring as a personnel manager from Rhein-Main Air Force Base in Germany. Margaret enjoyed reading mystery books and completing word search puzzles. She was a member of the Modern Maturity Center in Dover previously volunteering with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program RSVP with her twin sister. She was predeceased by her husband Archie William "Bill" Howton, her identical twin Ethel Nelson, sister Rozina Langworthy, brother Jacob Crawford Langworthy and her first husband Joseph Marcel "Vinny" Rivard. Surviving are a son, Joseph C. Rivard and his wife Dee from Harrington, DE, their children Andrea Hunt and her husband Buck of New Port Richey, FL, James T. "JT" Conlogue III from Dover, DE, Andrew Rivard and his wife Beata from Honolulu, HI and Amber Renee Rivard from Harrington, DE; a son Richard H. "Ricky" Rivard and his wife Barbara of Fort Collins, CO and their son Ricky Rivard; two sisters, Mary Francis Cronin from Mechanicsburg, PA and Estelle "Trudy" Trudewind from Atlanta, GA; 3 Great Grandchildren, Gage and Tye Hunt and Katherine Rivard; and 7 nieces and nephews. Memorial visitation will be held Thursday, December 4 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 717 Division Street, Dover, DE, 19904. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am at St. Bernadettes Roman Catholic Church, 109 Dixon Street, Harrington, DE 19952, where the family will receive friends following the service in the Church Hall at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Lake Forest Church Association Food Pantry, 102 Dorman Street, Harrington, DE to help needy families during the holiday season. Our family loved, cherished and respected Maggie while she was with us and as a family of faith trust in Matthew 5:4 "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted" and are blessed by John 14: 1-4 Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.
