Margaret Esther Dale

Margaret’s Journey Margaret Esther Deshields Dale, affectionately known as “Piggie,” was the fourth daughter of the late William Garfield and Audrey Mae Corbin Deshields. Born on July 19, 1946 in Snow Hill, Maryland, she transitioned to her heavenly home at 9:25pm on Monday, November 24, 2025 at the Snow Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Margaret attended Worcester County public schools. She was unable to graduate with her class, but knew the importance of education and received her Diploma on January 30, 1982. Her early Christian Training was at St. James Holiness Church in Snow Hill, Maryland. She surrendered her life to Christ and remained at St. James Holiness Church, being taught the Word of God under the leadership of Elder Viola Dennis, Elder Bridget Dale and Bishop William Davis. Margaret loved the Lord and served Him with all her heart through many different Ministries including culinary, ushering, Glorious Mount Sinai Youth department and Sunday school secretary, St. James Church Anniversary Committee, Vocational Bible school and Sunday School teacher and Cemetery Sexton, just to name a few. Mom was always willing to help wherever needed. Margaret was dedicated to her family and occupations, working for Buddy Boy Chicken Factory and US North 13 Restaurant, where she learned a lot more about cooking from her mother-in-law, Virginia Shockley. She also worked for Sandy Hill, Satellite and Howard Johnson motels before finally retiring from the Worcester County Board of Education as a custodian at the Snow Hill Elementary School due to health issues. Margaret’s house back in the day was the Pocomoke Road hang out spot. She never turned anyone away. She loved children and sports and would always leave her television on Jimmy Swaggart Ministries. She loved hearing gospel singing, but her favorite pastime was watching her favorite team, Baltimore Ravens. Margaret is survived by: her children, Tina Hyman of Florida, Dorthea Pye and Tyrone Dale, both of Salisbury, Maryland, India Dale of Berlin, Maryland, and Donathan Purnell, Theodis Dale and Faith Deshields, all of Snow Hill, Maryland; seven grandchildren, Da'Vonte, Antrey, Deshawn, Na'jer, Latoya, Timothy and Titus; four great grandchildren, Bri'anna, Hassan, Shawn and Aiden; siblings, Franklin (Deon) Deshields of California, James (Rebecca) Deshields of Delaware, George (Patricia) Deshields of Maryland, Joseph (Dorothy) Deshields of Maryland, Edith Armstrong of Virginia and Denise (Raymond) Handy of Delaware; four godchildren, Geneva, Devin, Jeremiah, and Makayla; four brothers-in-law, Woodrow (Gloria) Shockley, Jr., Garry (Trika) Shockley, Kenneth Shockley, Jr. and Gerald (Pamela) Shockley: one sister-in-law, Sharon Corbin; a special cousin, Robert (Vivienna) Brown and Margaret’s princess, Brielle Clark. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvel Lee Dale, four sisters, Dorothy Deshields, Phyllis Timmons, Lola Deshields and Carol J. Tull and one brother, John Deshields.
