Marcy Jenine Wilson-Baines

In the early morning of Friday, April 24, 2020, Marcy Jenine Wilson Baines, gained her angel wings to join her husband and father in the heavenly kingdom. Marcy was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, friend and most importantly “Nanas”. Born Thursday, July 23, 1970, to the late Roger Wilson and Patricia (Simmons) Singletary in Jersey City, New Jersey, Marcy entered the world full of personality, ambition and determination. She loved spending time between her two homes in Jersey City, New Jersey and Dover, Delaware, during her childhood. After giving birth to her first child, Marcy established a life in Dover. She worked hard raising her children and lived life to her fullest. If you knew Marcy you knew she always wanted to do and be more for her family. She worked hard to provide for her children and taught them what she knew was best. In 2003, she met Orlando Baines and they married in 2005. After their union, she began her journey towards her dream career of becoming a nurse. Through hard work and determination, Marcy completed her certificate for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). She worked in an assisted living facility. She loved caring for the elderly, and was gleaming with pride with her accomplishment. A few years after, her new journey began with her health. Marcy’s strength surpassed many obstacles put in her path. She was faced with several life altering events including the passing of her husband, Orlando, in February 2012, and graciously overcame those challenges with her resilience. She was a sassy woman with a bold personality that filled any room she walked into. She did not allow the changes of her body to change her desire to live life to the fullest, filled with laughter and a beautiful smile on her face. After every medical challenge, Marcy had more drive to make the best out of her new life. She was inspired by her love for traveling to start a business that would help those living with disabilities to enjoy traveling with accommodations for their needs. This included bookings flights and hotel reservations around the world. This idea was presented to a Shark Tank challenge in Dover, where Marcy carried the first place award. This gave her access to resources to begin her business “Butterfly Boutique by Marcy.” Her perseverance to grow her business, outweighed her declining health. She never complained or allowed her illnesses to defeat her. She kept fighting, and her ambition grew with each challenge. Although her body became tired, her spirit stayed strong until God called her home. Marcy leaves behind a legacy of strength and resilience and this same spirit will live on in her loved ones. Marcy is survived by her mother, Patricia Singletary; brothers, Toby Wilson, Teddy Singletary and Joe Singletary; three children Gabrielle Vascos, Brianna Vascos and Jordan Davenport; grandson, Timothy “TJ” Hicks Junior; best friend/sister, Kiesha Knight; godbrothers, Tyrone and Windell Bates; Aunt Mary Powell; and a host of many family and friends. Marcy, you are finally free and healed. Fly high in freedom, beautiful butterfly.
