Many daughters have done virtuously but thou excellest them all.” Proverbs 31:26-29 Maggie Lene Waters Dorman was born on September 23, 1929 to the late Annie Wright Waters and Frederick Douglas Waters. She departed this life, peacefully, in her sleep, at her home in Allen, Maryland on Tuesday, July 17, 2018. She received her education and graduated from the public school system in Somerset County, Maryland. She was briefly employed as an inspector for Chesapeake Poultry and as a chef for the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Department. She was married to the late Lawrence Matthew Dorman, Sr. Through this union, the following children were born and raised with unconditional love and a strong faith in our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus: Sandra Ballard, Brenda Monger Lloyd, Lawrence Matthew Dorman, Jr., Irene Parker, Darlene Dorman, Sylvia Butler and Selena Dorman. She became a member of Friendship United Methodist Church over sixty years ago. She served as an usher, on the choir and on many committees that raised money for various Church projects. No matter where she went, there was no place like Allen or Friendship United Methodist Church. For her, there truly was, no place like home. Mom always put God and family first. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, unconditionally. She raised her children to love God and family and to always stay together. She had a great personality filled with humor, and many words of wisdom and feistiness. Every holiday and special occasion was filled with laughter and large meals, and boy, could she cook! She was not politically correct but she was usually right and did not hesitate to say what was on her mind. She gave great advice but did not always take suggestions or recommendations whether from her children, doctors or others, she would just say: “You’re not the boss of me, I’m a grown woman,” and she said it with flair. She was the mom that you just said, “Mom, I’m bringing the kids” and it didn’t matter whether it was for a day, week, month or however long, she just said, “bring ‘em.” Some of her sayings that her children will always hold dear are: “Don’t take no wooden nickels”, “Show ‘em your soup bone and when she was finished with a discussion, she just said, “That’s the end of it.” But for her family, she will always be The Queen of Our Hearts. She was preceded in death by her parents, Annie and Frederick Waters; her husband, Lawrence Matthew Dorman, Sr.; her son, Lawrence Matthew Dorman, Jr.; her granddaughter, Michelle Parker; six biological sisters: Olivia Whitney, Victoria Harmon, Emily Wright, Doris Waters, Louise Brown, and Eleanor Gardner, one special sister, Mary Maycock and one brother, John Waters. She leaves to cherish her memories, her thankful, loving and supportive daughters: Sandra (William) Ballard of New Castle, Delaware, Brenda (Stevan) Lloyd of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Irene Parker of Marietta, Georgia, Darlene Dorman of Washington D. C., Sylvia (Lloyd) Butler of Mitchellville, Maryland and Selena Dorman of Catonsville, Maryland; thirteen grandchildren—Angela (Phillipe) Rameau, William Ballard, Jr., Clifton (Stephanie) Monger Jr., Jermaine Wilkinson, Charles Parker Jr., Lawrence (Michelle) Butler, Margaret Parker, Gregory Parker, Paula Wright, Jacinta Parker, Joseph Butler, James Parker and Markia Maggie Hughes; eighteen great grandchildren—Clifton Monger III, Chloe Parker, Olivia Rameau, Charles Parker III, Trinity Parker, Darien Harden, Makayla Poole, Dorian Harden, Victoria Harden, Jayda Wilkinson, Destiny Parker, Lawrence Butler, Jr., Janelle Butler, Mason Monger, Melanie Butler, Maya Butler, Giyana Thomas and Aedan Parker; one special nephew, Willie Waters; one special great nephew, Thomas Whitney; three sisters-in-law, Francis Burke, Alveta Davis and Lillian (Curtis) Johnson; one brother- in-law; Marion (Claire) Barkley; one special friend, Lucille Miller and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
