Reflection of Life She would often quote the words from the song “Search Me Lord” Shine the light from heaven on my soul If you find anything that shouldn't be Take it out and strengthen me 'Cause I wanna be right, I wanna be saved And I wanna be whole. Elderess Mae Helen Mills was born on August 10, 1941 in South Carolina to the late James and Mae Bell Conway. She came to Maryland at a young age and attended school in Worchester County. At a early age she gave her life to the Lord . Elderess Mills was employed at Arby’s and Campbell Soup where she met and married her husband of 49 years. She enjoyed listening to music and making a joyful noise, she lent her voice to several choirs in the district, which included The Salisbury Spiritual Tones, The District 2 Choir, and The Young at Heart. Whenever she would get a chance to speak or testify, Elderess would grace us with her favorite song: “Let Your Light Shine.” Elderess Mills held various offices in our church auxiliaries such as the Daughters of God and The Senior Saints Organization. She was a great help for years to the late Superior Mtr. Evelyn Grady at the House of Jacob Rest Home, known as Grace Memorial. She helped with meal preparations, provided general housekeeping, and anything else Mtr. Grady asked of her. She was truly a faithful servant, and could always be found helping in the church dining hall. Elderess Mills was a people person. She loved people, loved to talk, and loved for them to enjoy her excellent cooking. She also loved to travel. She was always in the first car or bus moving; never missing a convocation or church event in Ohio. She leaves fond memories with her Husband Donald Lee Mills; five sons, Reggie, Andre and Paron Mills, all of Salisbury, Maryland and Michael (Layneeta) of California and Natonia (Carrie) of Georgia; two daughters, Karen Taylor and Onita Parker (Esco) of Baltimore, 18 grand children; 21 great grandchildren; mother-in-law Beulah Jackson of Vienna; one brother-in-law, Leon Mills (Barbara) of Upper Marlboro, Maryland and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by one brother, Melvin Jefferson, one sister Bernice Sampson, one son Anthony Mills, Sr., three grandchildren, Helena Mills and Brian and Antonio Miles; sisters-in-law Naomi Mills and Annie Maddox and one son-in-law Joe Taylor.
