LW Scott

L W “Chuck” Scott, son of the late Willie E Scott and Luetelia Mack, was born in Enfield, North Carolina, September 14, 1941. He departed this life on February 9, 2021, at home, in Lincoln, Delaware. L W accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age and joined St. Chapel Church in Enfield, North Carolina. He later became a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Springfield, New Jersey. L W attended the Milford Church of God upon moving to Delaware. L W attended Inborden High School in Enfield, North Carolina. It was at that time, he met his high school sweetheart, Florene Montague. The two were joined in holy matrimony on November 13, 1962. To this union, one beautiful daughter, Tonya, whom he affectionately nicknamed “Wuda”, was born. Tonya, later married Rodney Cole, and they blessed him with two wonderful granddaughters, Gabriella and Shayla. L W and Florene moved to New Jersey from North Carolina in 1962. He started his own business, after moving to the Garden State, running Chuck's Home Repair and Remodeling, until he retired. He took great pride in his work and taught his family and friends the tools of the trade. L W’s home was always open for great entertainment. He was the life of the party, who’s booming voice and vibrant personality always stood out in a crowd. The man could also fry a mean whiting. L W greeted you with a “hey hey” and a strong slap on the back. If you asked how he was doing, he would say “I’m just a squirrel in your world, trying to get a nut.” The kindness of his spirit can never be overstated. L W and Florene lived in New Jersey for 47 years, before moving to Lincoln, Delaware. In his early years, he had a love for baseball and a great passion for fishing. L W also enjoyed mowing the lawn, tending to his garden, hitting the casino, listening to Blues radio and being with family. Because L W knew no strangers, he was blessed to have many friends whom he kept in touch with, and made connections that have withstood the test of time. L W was preceded in death by his beloved parents; stepmother, Bertha S Scott; siblings, Nathaniel, Modie Bell, John E, Robert Lee, Verna, Eugene, Willie Mae, Wilbur, James Herman Sanders Jr., Mildred Lee, Claytea Joyner, Clayton S Sanders and Dorothy Broadus. LW leaves to cherish his memory, his “honey”, Florene; daughter, Tonya; son-in-law, Rodney; granddaughters, Gabriella and Shayla; siblings, Helen Williams (Milton Sr.), Loretta Richardson (Jeffery), Levi (Dianne), John Lloyd Scott (Deborah) and Darry (Melissa); close friends, Ellen and Marcellus Charles and Billie and Winona Roach; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
