Lucille C. Everett

Lucille Everett, daughter of the late Mary Gayle and Curtis Brewington, raised by her grandparents, the late Hester and Peola Horsey, was born May 31, 1932 in Laurel, Delaware. Lucille departed this life on Sunday, November 13, 2016. She attended Paul Laurence Dunbar School in Laurel. Aunt Lu, as so many called her, worked various jobs down through the years, until she later retired from Vlasic Foods in Millsboro, Delaware, after 35 years of service. She also worked as a volunteer at Genesis Nursing Home in Seaford, Delaware, where she would put a smile on everyone’s face; reading, feeding and singing to the residents there. She was the widow to the late Elijah Everett, whom she loved dearly. Although Aunt Lu had no children of her own, she was a mother to many nieces, nephews and God-children. Aunt Lu loved to ride and shop. She loved to dress up and did it very well. She had to look her best when going to the House of the Lord. Her greatest love was serving the Almighty God. She was a faithful Mother of the church, working diligently for the Master until she could work no longer. She had the gift of helping and serving. One of her favorite jobs was preparing communion. She did it with joy. Mother Lucille persevered through her storms, always wanting to do the will of God. She truly loved the Lord. She was a Missionary that loved everyone she came in contact with. Her favorite song was “God Is”. In her last hours she sang it to the glory of God, with uplifted hands, praising and thanking Him, and telling us that God was her protector and her all in all. Her favorite Scripture was Psalm 23. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Elijah Everett, mother, Mary Gayle, father, Curtis Brewington, grandparents, Hester and Peola Horsey, one brother, Ralph Horsey, and her former Pastor and niece, Elder Ethel Oney. She leaves to cherish her memory one sister, Mother Lolita Horsey; one brother-in-law, Elder Clifford Horsey, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a God-daughter, Ronshaya Cannon, whom she loved dearly.
