Linwood William Ross

LINWOOD WILLIAM ROSS, was born in Seaford, Delaware, on Thursday, September 23, 1954, to the late Doretha and Linwood L. Ross. He departed this life on Thursday, October 22, 2020, at Tidal Health Nanticoke, in Seaford, Delaware. Ross, as he was affectionately known by his family and friends, graduated from Seaford Senior High School, in 1972. He was employed with King Cole in Milton, Delaware. Later he worked for Swift Poultry in Georgetown, Delaware. In 1975, he enlisted in the Delaware Army National Guard. He was employed at Dupont in Seaford, Delaware. After retiring from Dupont in 2010, he worked for Perdue Foods in Georgetown, Delaware. On December 18, 1976, Ross was united in holy matrimony to Correne West, and to this union two daughters were born. Staff Sergeant (Retired) Ross served meritoriously for over 22 years in the Delaware Army National Guard, Co A 280 Signal Battalion, Seaford, Delaware. Linwood’s hobbies included keeping his cars clean, playing his guitar, watching TV (oldies, the cooking channel, and of course his favorite NFL team, the Pittsburgh Steelers), bowling, tennis and spending time with his family; giving them advice. Ross had a passion for God and had no problem letting you know about Him. He was a faithful member and musician of Tabernacle of Prayer, Salisbury, Maryland, under the leadership of Bishop Nathaniel and Pastor Rosie Edwards, and later Pastor David Edwards, Sr. Ross leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Correne Ross of Seaford, DE; two daughters, Lynterica and Shanika Ross of Seaford, DE; two grandchildren, Jakeen Banks of Magnolia, DE and Ca’Ryn Taylor Ross of Seaford, DE; two brothers, Jarvis Ross of Seaford, DE and Lemuel Ross (Andrea) of Ellendale, DE; two sisters, Dorlinda Ross and Dorcia Martin (Lester) both of Seaford, DE; five foster brothers and sisters, Dion and Courtney Kellam both of Seaford, Tashiba Kellam of New Church, VA, Andrea Johnson of Frederica, DE and April Johnson of WI; step-mother, Agusta Carr-Ross of Bridgeville, DE; seven step-brothers and sisters, Douglas Carr, Beverly Banks of Dover, DE, William Carr of Smryna, DE; Bernard Carr of Bridgeville, DE, Ricky Carr of Hope Mills, NC, Andre’ Carr (Youmana) of Warner Robins, Georgia and Jayne Alexander (Michael) of Hampton, VA; sisters-in-law, Gladys Briggs, Diane Drayton, Joanne West and Wayne, Josephine Drayton (Layton); brothers-in-law, Orlando Palmer, Myron West, Martin West (Vanae), William West (Maria), Corneilus West (Diane) and Forrest West (Timah); aunts, Evelyn Fooks, Dorothy Cannon, Audrey Fooks and Gaynell Abbott (Eugene); uncles, Jerome Cannon, Bishop Arnold Robinson, Ronald Taylor and Gary Taylor (Wanda); godchildren, Antoine Brumble, Shawn Matthews, David Edwards, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
