Lillian V. Maston

Lillian Virginia Dashiell Maston, 84, was born April 6, 1930 and slipped from life into eternal rest on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge, Maryland. She was born in Mardela Springs, Maryland and was the last surviving child of the late Charles "Charlie" and Addie Wheatherly Dashiell. Her husband, James "Mack" Edward Maston also preceded her in death November 2001. Lillian began her formal education in the Wicomico County School System at Mardela Elementary and at Sharptown Elementary and graduated from Salisbury High School 1947. At an early age, she attended John Wesley Methodist Church in Mardela and later in life as an adult became a devoted member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Vienna, Maryland. Her last place of employment was with Coldwater Seafood of Cambridge. Maryland. She also attended the Hurlock Community Center, there she met with many friends and enjoyed the many days of fellowship. When Lillian was growing up, Mardela being a small neighborhood, she along with her other siblings often visited their cousins of the Nichols family since there were so many kids to play with. Both families lived up a long lane on Athol Rd and her family lived even further back. When they visited, they had to walk through a wooded area from one house to another. When the time of play was over for the day, they would walk each other home, back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, until finally they would get halfway between both houses and each person would walk themselves home. As a young adult, Lillian was a "Diva", she loved beautiful clothes and was always well groomed, making sure she had the right lipstick to match the polish she had on her beautiful long fingernails. She also loved good seafood, good gospel music, she loved to dance and enjoyed chewing gum. Lillian was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, cousin and friend. She remembered everybody's birthday, she would make sure she had all addresses lined up with each birth date and would "Always" send a card as well as giving you a real “EARLY MORNING SINGING CALL" before she left to go to the Community Center. She enjoyed traveling to California to visit with her son, Ricky and would have many stories when she returned. Her favorite color was purple and her favorite song, "Precious Lord!" Lillian leaves to cherish fond memories with a son, Fredrick "Ricky" Thompson (Audrey) of Garden Grove, California and a daughter, Lenora Maston Carey (Thomas, Jr.) of Milford, Delaware; three grandchildren, Yashika Howell (Curtis) of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Amanda Thompson of Dallas, Texas, Tyler Thompson of Garden Grove, California; five great-grand children, Tionne, Samahj, Kobe. Richard and Noah; a sister-in-law, Mary Dashiell; and several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Marion Handy, Alberta Tucker and Rachel Brown; one brother, Crawford Dashiell; nephews, Samuel Handy, Spencer Brown, Janis and Charles Crawford Dashiell; a great niece, Angela Schoffer; two nieces-in-law, Yvonne & Shirley Brown.
