Lillian R Gale

Thoughtful in deed, jovial in word, gentle in spirit: all fitting descriptions of Lillian Rosalee Gale who passed peacefully at University of Maryland Shore Medical Center in Easton, MD on Sunday, May 1, 2016. She was ninety-four years of age. Memories are gifts of God that death cannot diminish. Bidding "farewell" to Rosalee is painful, though unavoidable. Remembering her will sustain us as we seek strength in the loss of one we love. Rosalee, the eldest of two daughters, was born in Easton, Maryland to Elizabeth Sewell on March 12, 1922. Educated in the public schools of Talbot County, she graduated from Robert Russa Moton High School in 1941. Her religious training began in the home of her mother and grandparents who, while rearing her, instilled the values of a Christian life. Thus, she became a life-long member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Easton, MD at a very early age. Through the years of active participation, she helped organize the Usher Board and was it’s president for many years. Also. she gave faithful support to the Stewardess Board, Lay Organization and the Missionary Society. In June of 1944, Rosalee entered into holy matrimony and lifetime partnership with Charles Edward Gale. Their marriage produced a devoted son and daughter, Charles Samuel and Catherine Ann Gale. As a wife and mother, Rosalee enjoyed the many aspects of homemaking, especially cooking. She could transform the simplest foods, rendering them memorable and royal. Her kitchen became a magical kingdom from freezer to pantry shelf, from refrigeration to oven. Lillian Rosalee Gale leaves to cherish memories and to celebrate her life a son, Charles Samuel Gale, Sr.; a grandson, Charles Samuel Gale, Jr. (wife Akilah); great-grandchildren, Shetera Allen, Charles S. Gale, III and Jaynell Roberts; a great-great granddaughter, A'zia Moore; very special friends who were devoted to her care and well-being, Cecelia Washington, Sharon Burris, Doris Robinson and Phyllis Raisin. Others who mourn her loss are her church family and many, many friends. Rosalee was distinguished for being a loving wife and mother, a dedicated and committed church woman, for her willingness to help anyone in need, for being a good neighbor and a genuine friend.
