Leondius Blaine "Peanut" Perry

Leondius Blaine Perry, affectionally called “Peanut” by all who knew him, departed his earthly life at the age of 53 on Thursday, June 28, 2018 in Harbeson, Delaware. He was born in Lewes, Delaware, on September 17, 1964, to Jacqueline (Perry) Weston and the late Charles James Tingle. He was raised in the Lewes area and attended school in the Cape Henlopen School District. He participated in baseball and wrestling. Peanut was employed as a masonry construction worker at Henlopen Masonry in Lewes, Delaware, for 18 years, which was founded by the late George Fluharty. He was also employed as a custodian at Delaware Technical and Community College in Georgetown, Delaware, for five and a half years. Leondius was a mighty man of valor and a prayer warrior. He was a member of Mt. Plymouth A.M.E. Church, Felton, Delaware, where he previously served as a Trustee and a member of the choir. He loved to share the Good News and witness to the goodness of the Lord. He had gifts and talents which he shared with so many others. He was meticulous and took great pride in his work. He had the unique ability and a special gift to garden and do yard work which he found to be very gratifying. He was dependable, reliable, trustworthy and efficient. Leondius lived life to the fullest. A man full of love, joy and happiness, he greeted everyone with a smile and a warm embrace. On his journey of life, he met a lot of people and was truly a people’s person. He was loved by everyone and helped anyone that needed his assistance. He did not discriminate when helping someone in need. His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone with whom he interacted. He will greatly be missed by all the lives he touched throughout his lifetime. He was a dedicated husband, father, step-father, son, brother and grandfather. He loved his family and adored his grandchildren. Leondius was an avid Washington Redskins fan. Leondius was preceded in death by his father, Charles James Tingle; a brother, Wallace Nathaniel Perry; his maternal grandparents, Theodore and Naomi Perry; paternal grandparents, Al and Eva Tingle; and a very special sister-in-law, Margaretta Sample, whom he loved dearly and affectionately called “Maggie”. He leaves to cherish and honor his memories, his wife of 27 years, Dorene Sample-Perry; one son, Markkey Flowers of Bryan, Texas; two stepsons, Rayshawn and DeShawn Sample, Seaford, DE; mother, Jacqueline Weston, Lewes, DE; step-father, Henry Weston, Concord, DE; one brother, Charles Dorsey Perry, Lewes, DE; one sister, Phicilla Perry, Milton, DE; 7 grandchildren, one great-grandson; and a host of other relatives to include aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
