Lemuel Henry White Sr.

In Loving Memory of Lemuel Henry White, Sr. April 6, 1962 – August 22, 2026 “Muff” Lemuel Henry White, Sr. was called home to eternal rest on August 22, 2026. To those who knew and loved him, he went by “Muff.” He was born on April 6, 1962, to Henry and Lucy White and spent most of his life in Princess Anne, MD. His childhood was where his initial love for sports blossomed. He attended Washington High School, where his basketball career began. The local paper revered him as an “excellent leaper” who was brought up from the Junior Varsity team and was able to score well into the double digits for the Varsity team. He was awarded many athletic accolades, including Most Valuable Player. He graduated from high school in 1981 and began his career with the United States Army National Guard as a Motor Transport Operator #1229 until he was honorably discharged in 1988. Lemuel then found a true passion for drywall and finishing. He took his talents to many businesses, including Bruce Elliot, Nanticoke Homes (Beracah), and Shawnee Homes. He was also always renovating and working on his own home as well as his son’s, Lemuel White, Jr. Anyone who knew him knew he hated to sit still and loved to keep busy, whether he was working, helping someone fix something, or finding a side job. He also worked for Mountaire Farms Hatchery as well as the Somerset County Public School system. Lemuel’s first love in life was sports. To say he was a Baltimore Ravens fan is an understatement. You could almost guarantee on game day you could find him in some sort of Ravens gear, watching the game and cheering the boys on for better or for worse. He also loved cooking. Whether it was cooking, as his son Julius would say, “the perfect scrambled eggs,” or grilling hamburgers and ribs, he always found joy in sitting down and enjoying a good meal with his family. His favorite, of course, as a true Maryland native, was crabs. As a young adult, Lemuel met arguably the biggest pillar in his life, his wife, Dawn. When you saw Dawn, Lemuel was not far behind. Beyond husband and wife, they were best friends, who you could always catch smiling and laughing together (when they weren’t intensely watching a game). They honored their vows of “in sickness and in health” strongly, as Dawn cared for Lemuel during almost 10 years of medical treatments. They were lucky enough to share 33 incredible years of marriage together, during which they had two sons, Lemuel White, Jr. and Julius White. He raised his sons by leading by example of what a good man, husband, and father is. One of his greatest joys in his later life was being a Poppop to his grandchildren. Whether it was playing at the house or taking a family vacation, he loved being involved in their lives. Nothing brought him joy like spending time with his family. He also shared an incredibly special relationship with his Godchildren, Gabrean Bolden and Raina Cottman. To know Lemuel was to love him. He lived his life as a hard worker, a loving husband, a great father, and a phenomenal friend. Those Left to Cherish His Memory He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Dawn LaRue White; his sons, Lemuel H. White, Jr. of Princess Anne, Maryland, and Julius J. White (Jolie) of Chester, Maryland; father-in-law, Donnie LaRue of Princess Anne, Maryland; sisters-in-law, Jowan Whitfield and Rose White; three brothers, Leland White (Yvonne) of Chesapeake, Virginia, Marlo White (Tammy) of Princess Anne, Maryland, and Linwood Johnson of Baltimore, Maryland; three grandchildren, Emani White, Eli White, and Aries White; two Godchildren, Gabreon Bolden and Raina Cottman; three special friends, George Handy, Timothy Spence, and Gregory “TC” Waters, along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Preceded in Death Lemuel was preceded in death by: his parents, Henry and Lucy White; his brother, Aurbey White; one nephew Troy White; his mother-in-law, Joan LaRue; his stepmother, Mamie White, along with his dear friends, Charlie Butler and Ronnie Spence.
