LeiLani’s Journey LeiLani Israelyn Showell was born on February 10, 2007 in Salisbury, Maryland to Isaiah Showell, Sr. and La-Trease D. Showell. There is no doubt that God meant for her to be here with purpose and on purpose, as she was an emergency c-section. Lani was the oldest of the youngest and the youngest of the oldest children. She loved music from her infant years, so her level of praise and worship grew. It is no coincidence that her name meant “sent from heaven because God reigns beautifully.” She drew something from each person in the family. With her oldest sister Londan, she wanted to edit, film and tell stories. Her second oldest sister, LeJanae, Lani loved Lej’s gift of drawing and desired to draw like her. She was inspired by her oldest brother’s cooking and baking and wanted to master or have any kitchen gadget that lil’ Isaiah had. She deemed herself Mom’s back-up IT specialist after her older brother Israel, who taught her Python programming and they often double teamed late night clean ups. Just as she loved her oldest siblings, she loved her youngest ones. Lake, aka known as “Lakey,” her roomie, her bestie, the two them balanced each other through talks, spending time, inside jokes, painting, drawing and their animation works on their Imperfectly Perfect YouTube channel. Lani spent time with each of her little brothers. She talked, played and wrote stories with Ignatius. Issachar and Lani spent a lot of time animating his great King Pig and farm stories. Lani loved Iphriam and they spent time together playing games, and the timeless struggle of little brother vs. big sister, with an even score mostly, however bonus points to the little guy. In her spare time, Lani also trained the family cat (Nova), through mostly conventional, questionable, yet successful methods. Lani loved to homeschool and aspired to be in the medical field, but somehow found the time to create pinatas, sculptures, paintings, and animations. She was devoted to clean eating and exercise. LeiLani clearly saw the value in both her parents and the magnitude of gratefulness she exuded still echoes in our hearts. She was a source of encouragement to us in tough times, whether you needed a “Huggo” as she called them or just caring words. Her bond with her mother was one of the most cherished gifts that we will be without. Their infamous, impromptu silly songs, keto/vegan kitchen adventures, and the “we time” hair loc retie marathons are moments of legendary proportions as well as messy clean ups. We will miss the time watching “Is It Cake?”, Wipeout, The Floor is Lava, and so many programs and movies along with the family board games that can’t be listed. The love Lani fostered for life and family was undeniable and shall remain by the Grace of God. Though Lani’s earthly journey has ended, her life’s purpose will continue as we too find hope in the little, big and in between things. While we press for hope in the middle of this hurt, we are reminded that this too shall pass. Lani’s life did count and will continue to count for God’s glory! She will be missed yet not forgotten because her light shined bright. Please don’t let this be just another service that you attend. Leave here with the understanding that your light should never be hidden, dimmed or snuffed out by anyone's voice or opinion. Don’t leave this earth full but leave empty, knowing that you did the Will of the Father for your life! LeiLani Israelyn Showell is survived by her parents, Isaiah, Sr. and La-Trease D. Showell, her eight aforementioned siblings and a host of great uncles, great aunts, uncles, aunts and cousins.
