LaTanya Cherise Anderson

LaTanya “Tanya” Cherise Anderson was born on Wednesday, October 14, 1970, in Wilmington, Delaware, to Darlene Miller and the late Earnest Cooper, Jr. She departed this life on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, surrounded by family and friends. Tanya grew up in North Wilmington, where she received her education in the Wilmington Public School System. She began her career in Early Childhood Education and worked at various daycare centers throughout Wilmington. Tanya loved the kids, and all the kids loved Tanya! She was a caring person and would never see anyone without a place to stay and her home was open to anyone in need. Tanya married her childhood sweetheart, Charles W. Anderson, on June 25, 1993. This union blessed them with their two beautiful daughters, LaTiya “Binker” and Chyair “Mook”. Tanya had an inseparable bond with her two daughters, they really were the definition of “BFF’s”. Her whole world changed when she became a grandmother - she lived and breathed to spoil her grandbabies. She also took care of her sister, brothers, nieces and nephews as though they were her own children. Tanya enjoyed spending time with her family, loved cooking, and was famous for her macaroni and cheese (which she was required to make for every family function). She was the football mom/grand mom and a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. Tanya loved life and lived it to the fullest. She enjoyed partying with her “CREW” – C4L! (Chuck, Tone, Tone Lugg, Peezer, Travis, Deet, Tammy, Dana, Tina, Shauna, and Big Tonya). Then came the “GOLDEN GIRLS” (Tanya “Sophie”, Tammy “Dorothy”, Tina “Blanche” and Dana “Rose”) a spin-off of the characters from the show – along with a character from “The Foreigner” - Shauna “Meechelle”. Tanya will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all that knew her. Tanya was preceded in death by her father, Earnest Cooper, Jr., “Coffee”; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Jenette Miller; paternal grandmother, Marjorie Cooper; and sister, Walisa Miller. Tanya leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Charles W. Anderson; daughters, LaTiya Anderson (Robert) and Chyair Anderson (Michael); son, Andre Johnson “Baby Dre”; mother, Darlene Miller; godchildren, Mar’keist and Lanetta Anderson, Ty’mere Manning and D’Asia Chandler; grandchildren, Imani, Syair, John Jr., Malik, Maliyah and Syla; brothers, Nakia Miller and George Miller (Jameeka); sisters, Melissa Manning and Lakeisha Wanamaker (Nate); step-sisters, Tracy Darden and Tamika Brown; mother & father in-law, Alvin and Belinda Macklin; brothers-in-law, Corey Anderson and Lamont Macklin; sisters-in-law, Tasha Woodard and Yalonda Taylor; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
