Larrine Viola Brown

Honoring the Life of Larrine Viola West- Brown Larrine Viola West-Brown, affectionately known as “Moma” or “Honey West”, a resident of Cambridge, Maryland, departed this life in the early hours of Monday, May 6, 2019 as she slept peacefully in her home. She was called home to the Lord at the age of seventy (70) after many years of battling breast cancer. She was born on February 20, 1949 in Cambridge, Maryland, the daughter of the late Larry Edward West and Irene Dorothy Fletcher-West. Larrine was educated in the Dorchester County public school system. She attended Mace’s Lane High School where she was part of the “Class of 1967.” There she loved to play volleyball and run track and field. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Cambridge, Maryland, where she often participated in, and attended many church events, and other local activities throughout the community. Throughout her adult life she was gainfully employed in Dorchester County in various jobs including Dorchester General Hospital, Airpax, and later she worked as Caregiver in the private sector until her health prevented her from doing so. “Moma,” as she was affectionately called, loved people regardless of one’s age, race, color or creed from all walks of life. She was well known for her bubbly personality, loving demeanor and giving spirit. Oftentimes you could find her outside of her home in the front yard talking and laughing with anyone who passed by her then address of “711 Cornish Drive” for more than 40 years. She took great pride in decorating her home and front yard to coordinate with the holidays throughout the years. She loved to cherish memories with her family and friends, both small and large. She loved taking pictures and collecting them also. Her hobbies included shopping at the local shops in downtown Cambridge and across town. She will be remembered as the “life of the party” as she would light up any room with her presence as she would often dance, joke and have “good ole” fun with friends and family, or anyone she came in contact with. Her memory will forever be cherished by: her two children son, Larry R. Deshields, Sr. and daughter, Wanda Deshields, both of Cambridge, MD; five grandchildren, Angel Raisin of Easton, MD, Richard E. Wongus, Jr. (Keisha) of Glen Burnie, MD, De’Andre D. Wongus and Ja’Baar T. Terry, both of Cambridge, MD, and Larry R. Deshields, Jr. of Denton, MD; nine great grandchildren; a very special friend of over 50 years, William Camper of St Michaels, MD and a sister-like friend since childhood, Gladys Mason of Ray City, GA., a special son, Dontray Jackson and a special daughter, Vanessa Banks as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her kind spirit and warm heart dearly. In addition to her parents, Larrine was preceded in death by her husband Emerson Brown, brother, Ben Harris, Sr., and sister, Octavine Harris-Saunders. Lovingly Submitted ~ The Family
