Keith O'Neil Giddens

Keith O’Neil Giddens March 4, 1967 – February 24, 2023 Keith O’Neil Giddens, affectionately known as “Koot Dog” by his many friends, was born to Margaret L. Giddens and the late Vernon L. Giddens, Sr. on March 4, 1967, in Nassawadox, VA. He was baptized at Bethel Baptist Church at an early age. Keith received his formal education in Northampton County public schools and graduated in June 1985. After high school, he attended Virginia State University in Petersburg, VA and Salisbury State University in Salisbury, MD. Soon thereafter, he returned to the Eastern Shore to begin construction work. He completed most of his projects by himself or with a small crew. When he wasn’t working, he spent most of his free time with his close friends and family. Keith enjoyed math and building things. He also enjoyed cheering for the San Francisco 49ers, watching tv, playing the lottery, and shooting pool. He also loved Invicta watches. Although Keith was always smiling and cracking jokes, there was no question where you stood with him, because he was direct and straight forward when communicating with people. He enjoyed having conversations with his girls and answering their many questions. Keith, without question, loved his mother and she loved him. He was the “Apple of her Eye.” Keith was a true fighter who persevered and continued doing all the things he enjoyed and loved even with his diabetes. He was able to travel and venture out to new places, restaurants, events and attend church while spending time with his close and special friend, Paula. On Friday, February 24, 2023, Keith was called home. Keith was predeceased by: his grandparents, Annie Maude and Lloyd H. Giddens, Sr. and Louise and Norman Giddens, Sr; father, Vernon L. Giddens, Sr.; brother, Vernon L. Giddens, Jr.; sister, Mary Weatherly-Adkins; uncles, Norman Giddens, Jr. and Lloyd H. Giddens, Jr.; aunts, Effie Spady and Margaret Washington; niece, nephew, cousins, and other relatives. Keith leaves behind to cherish his love and memories: his children, Andrew Keyes, Shaneka Davis, Ashleigh Smith and Zyrik Summers; his mother, Margaret L. Giddens; Special Friend, Paula Waller of Baltimore, MD; sisters, Faith Evans (Rodney) of Philadelphia, PA, Annie Kellam (James) and Janice Walter (Burleigh), both Exmore, VA, Gay Weatherly-Roberts (Dana, Sr.) of Felton, DE and Andrea Giddens-Bolden (Sam) of Chesapeake, VA; brothers, Toriano Giddens (Yashica) of Dover, DE, Joe Weatherly of Daugherty, VA, Elroy Weatherly (Susan) of Clarksville, TN, Leroy Weatherly (Linda) of Exmore, VA, and Thomas (Anordia) of Chesapeake, VA ; a great-aunt, Margaret Webb of Nassawadox, VA; aunts, Jane Cabarrus and Mary Hampton Giddens; uncle, Wilmor (Dot) Giddens and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
